Clearly, you have had a long time to consider your decision. And, having thought on it, you should be free to make whatever decision you believe is right for you as an adult. I have a problem with parents who think it's a good idea to let some 10 year old make such a decision.
I was saddened by your post. I am sure your life has been difficult. I hope that you find happiness and your family continues to accept/support you. I am sure that there are families who turn their backs on folks like you. Good luck and God Bless.

are you happy?
Every person has mentioned to my family how happy I look and it’s genuine and incredible. I no longer have to hide. I can finally be myself. I’m no longer mad at the world or reeling in sadness.
Thank you all for the nice replies and comments. It’s very appreciated :)

I little bit to be honest.

You would be surprised how sincere and caring many of the posters are on here. Good luck with your transition.

Are you a physically large fellow?

People asked me often “what does it feel like?”. The best way I can describe it, is to imagine the worst heartache you’ve felt, and replace the person in your thoughts with your sex. The deep down pit of your stomach and the anxiety because your body is different than what your brain is telling you. That’s what it felt like for me at least. For others if differs from person to person.
Are you gay? Are you sexually attracted to men or women? I assumed that people transitioning from male to female are gay and want to be a woman and be with men.
Is that incorrect?
I’m not saying you’re mentally ill, but it seems like “transsexuals” suffer from a similar condition as people who want to have a limb removed (body integrity identity disorder) because they feel like it “doesn’t belong.”

Did you witness street shitting while in San Fran?

Fair question.
I like woman and always have, but I’ve also become attracted somewhat to men in the last several years. I’ve never been with a man, but I wouldn’t rule it out. What I have found attractive has definitely changed and morphed. I could be watching Road House one day and suddenly be like “Damn Patrick Swayze...”:O Each one of us are different, being trans doesn’t automatically make you gay, or a lesbian, or in a straight relationship.
Those people who have want to have a limb removed, I don’t know what that feels like. I’m in no rush to remove my stuff, because it seems super scary right now. Yes, I want that procedure, EVENTUALLY. Some of us, like myself can wait a while, other feel the need to have bottom surgery as soon as they can. Some, well, never have surgery, because they don’t want to or because they can’t afford it or have insurance that’ll cover it.
Hope that answers your question.

I wasn’t going to answer this, but what the hell. When I started this journey, I was 6’1” 260 lbs (I played college ball). Now, after 20 months, I’m two inches shorter at 5’11” and 225. What you’re implying is that “Do I pass?” That answer is sort of, to I don’t. But 99% of people who I meet in public acknowledge me as a woman. I take a lot of pride in my appearance and dress as someone my age would. Makeup isn’t an issue since I used to be an artist and it’s easy for me, and I still have a full head of hair and can style it easily. I’m seeing a vocal therapist this year to work on the pitch, resonance and inflection of my voice. Transition takes a good 3-5 years before really “passing” well. I’m at 20 months doing pretty okay IMO.

Glad that you are happy and doing well. Being gay, I know the feeling of not having to hide who you are anymore and I can only imagine how being trans brings on a whole other set of issues to deal with. Good luck as you progress through your transition.

I mean, it isn’t real. It’s just mutilation. It’s an open wound that never heals. It doesn’t self lubricate. It doesn’t have any of the right parts...I mean if you want to dress in women’s clothes that’s fine. Eddie Izzard did it and he’s funny as shite.
But if you are a man that likes men, gay men aren’t going to want a man that dresses like a woman.
If you like women, women aren’t going to want a man who doesn’t look like a man.
So really your only real target would be men who like men who look like women.
I just don’t understand.

I personally never saw street shitting or feces. We didnt have homeless people in my neighborhood and when I did work in the city, it was by the baseball park. I usually commuted to Silicon Valley or East Bay for work.
I did live for a period near Union Square, so saw lots of drug use, but junkies thought I was an undercover cop for some reason (clean cut white guy?) so stayed clear.

3 years ago I had a very nice visit to San Fran. Caught a Giants’ game and did a walking tour with one of my sons. Saw the GG bridge immersed in Fog and viewed the city up in the Coit Tower. Had fun.
