Eileen’s Dad worked with me. Finely one day he came up to me and said, “That it, I’m leaving!” He quit work, great guy, great worker. That was tough times for all of us that knew him well. One of the best guys I ever worked with. God Bless, John Hains.

My best friend’s brother in law and sister. It was devastating. That’s the only thing I will say about this.

I lived with a bunch of characters at LSU but Tommy was on another level.

I have so many stories. One of the funniest people I've ever known.

He taught me the small capital letter German type handwriting that I still use to this day.

Tom’s daughter was a firecracker in the sack, way to many issues though. After failing out of southeastern I’m prettt sure she joined the coast guard.

tommy was one-of-a-kind and when i started at LSU he was already a junior into higher level engineering classes. my writing at the point was terrible TERRIBLE cursive. i couldn't even read half of what i wrote.

he took one look at my calculus notes and gave me one of his signature rants/dressing-downs that only tommy can deliver.

i looked at his handwriting and it was art..very crisp, all caps squared type that looked like a damn font.

i adopted it the next day and my handwriting improved DRAMATICALLY by the end of the semester when i could hand write faster than cursive and to this day, thats the only way i know how to write.

funny story: tommy was such a character and every story he told was bigger than life. one day he came in PISSED because he had written his "anonymous" teacher review and on the last day of class his professor was handing out finals and as he passed tommy he said "in need of a long vacation huh?" and tommy was like "I THOUGHT THOSE SURVEYS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE ANONYMOUS" and his professor said "they are but i would recognize that precision german-style writing anywhere"

the fact he included 'my teacher is in need of a long vacation' is so on brand for tommy that every time i think of that story i crack up.

I write in all block letters because I'm left-handed and my handwriting is atrocious. My block letters are not quite perfect, but at least people - including me - can now read my writing.

As a tangent, I had a teacher that everyone hated. We all bashed her on the anonymous survey. The next class we had, she stood up from her desk and started crying. "Everything I do is for you and to make you a better student. How do you think it makes me feel to see that everyone last one of you hates me? You are all so ungrateful."

I thought the teachers didn't have access to those surveys until after the semester was over.

exactly.

i wish i had recorded the story when tommy told me. he explained bullet-by-bullet all the points he had made in his teacher review and it was freaking hilarious. he just eviscerated the teacher int he nicest way possible. that one line always stood out to me though about being in need of a LONG vacation

i mean, at least he took the time to write up a thoughtful review

The movie Open Water was pretty good however, as a dive instructor one flaw I saw in the movie (if I remember correctly) is they were one of the first divers in the water and the last to surface and boat had left, (which rarely happens). They most likely surfaced away from the boat and without a surface signaling device were unable to be seen by the boat crew and thus left. The lack of an accounting system for all divers is inexcusable but not unheard of outside the US

its not a documentary; its a shitty hollywood 'blockbuster' "inspired" by real events.
