I don't have that many overall but certainly about 2/3 I couldn't care less about. But I usually only delete if they are just too retarded or offensive, otherwise I just hide their updates or whatever it's called. I probably have 80% of my FB "friends" on hide.

My rule is that if I crossed that person on the street and would stop and talk to them then I'll add them

I deleted my FB when I realized that all of the people on my friends list were people that I actually talked to often, either in person or by phone.

I got off altogether. Best move I've made in a long time.

I had around 500 at one point in time.

The criteria I used was if they would say hello to me if we bumped into each other at random I would keep them. Cut it in half. Did it a few years ago.

FACEBOOK SELFIE BFFS XOXOXO

and I may only actually talk to about a dozen people on a regular basis... if that.

I somehow have like 900 and I need to get rid of most of them. I rarely get on anyway so I forget about it.

I constantly have friends/family asking for baby pics so I use it as a mass baby updater. I hear people love that.

I did a purge a while back -- got rid of people who I barely knew who annoyed me with status updates. Like this crazy broad who would either post pictures of whatever douchebag she was dating or whine about whatever douchebag she broke up with. Or the guy who beat me up in elementary school that would post in all caps and drop in racial slurs.
I've got a bunch of people hidden, including a close friend from college. The people on this list are folks that I like, but who constantly post about religion/politics.

I honestly want to cut my Facebook to about 200 people, but I have way to many friends currently. My Facebook is actually deactivated currently, but I reactivate it a good bit.

I either don't bother checking it or else unsubscribe to the persons updates. I suppose if that didn't work to avoid the annoying stuff I would purge but I don't have any problems right now. I check it about once every 3-4 days and then only for 5-10 minutes.

Exactly, the only time I check my facebook is when my sister leaves a message. She lives in Austin so it's an easy way to communicate. As for the creeper, thrice removed friends, frick em.

That's actually what made me deactivate mine. Elections bring out the inner moron in the majority of people.

I have well over 900 friends on FB, but I don't get on enough to care about deleting some people. Having to go through a "purge" seems like an awful waste of time. If my FB bothers that much, I'd rather just deactivate it all together.

I quit getting on Facebook a week ago because I felt myself getting on every hour to only realize I didn't give a shite what was being posted.

I can honestly say that I have no interest in FB anymore. The only thing it's good for is showing birthdays and certain events

Ditto.

I used to open my FB app on my phone once a day or log on once a day at from my computer, but now I barely ever get on there. Quite literally the only things I find it useful for anymore are birthday reminders and things along those lines.

All FB has really done over the last decade or so is show how truly self-indulgent and fame-obsessed most people really are. I have no end of trouble understanding what drives a person to post inane things like "just cooked dinner and about to watch TV" as if they're some celebrity or person who matters. Plus, the people who live their drama-filled lives on there and just scream ambiguous putdowns like "people need to mind they own business" into their computers need to either seek help immediately or reassess their lives.
