As im typing this Im sure Carlton Dufreshore has asked for another toll increase to pay for ticket writers and more signs

What’s shitty is they lobbied for and got that extra lane every so often for safety reasons but it gets used more as a hiding spot for speed traps. That wasn’t the given purpose of the project.

Italian film director Lucio Fulci on the causeway circa 1980 (filming The Beyond). Apparently he had already shut the bridge down for longer than allotted when insisting on posing for this… worth it

A strange world where people talk like angry Foghorn Leghorn and brag about knowing a fella down at city hall.

Crossing the causeway is only weird at night in a fog.

Most would think itnis weird how the residents there just seem to ignore what is going on.

Ignore as in send them to jail?

My grandfather was the first person (officially) to drive across the Causeway. He drove the governor for the inaugural drive.

Governor got in the car and said let’s get on the gas. Said they did about 100mph on the causeway, which I imagine was pretty damn fast back then.

The great Spanish explorer DeSoto crossed it in 1673. Saw alligators on the opposite side and went home to Spain.

Modern Marvel's, Season 9, Episode 37, Oct 2003 covered the history and engineering of the causeway. It's very interesting.

Well, they say 30,000 - 40,000 vehicles cross it every weekday. So, probably.

What’s on the other side opposite from New Orleans?

The "North Shore." What that exactly entails seems to fluctuate depending on who you ask.

How do they clear crashes with only 2 lanes?

That's what the crossovers are for; they allow access depending on where and how the accident happened.

Anyone ever gone over the rails

Yep. As for gators, but possibly.

So many questions…starting with how to pronounce Pontartrain.

If you mean Pontchartrain (can't tell if a troll or actually need help), it's pronounced several time in this song:

And here:
The Band of Heathens - Hurricane

I'm sure you can probably figure it out . . . maybe.
