Anyone actually flying right now?

My wife had to fly up to NYC on Thursday to work for the next 2 weeks. The Delta flight from MYS to LGA was bout 30-35% full. She normally would have taken the MSY-JFK flight but that the flights that route on JetBlue and Delta were cancelled.

Most planes flying right now are doing so with well under 50% capacity.

A lot of GA and corporate/charter aircraft in that screencap. Airline flights are basically empty, although we're still flying. Just a bunch of mostly empty planes, and vast majority of passengers are airline employees on many flights.

That's freaking nuts.
The platforms that I'm dealing with aren't letting anyone out unless it's extremely safety critical work. Even the base crews were asked to remain out for double hitch and when the new crews come out to replace them, they will be at least 40% less of them.
You get cases on an offshore facility and that's bad news.

If you are in the private sector, this could be a great time to keep some billable hours up.

Just told him no in a strongly worded text. I didn't even see the Virginia stay at home order until after posting this.

The pilots I know are sitting at home since most of their routes have been canceled.

Yep, a few of my other clients are the same way. Guys doing double hitches and no non-essential personnel. I can't argue much because work is work and with oil at $20/bbl I'll take it while I can.

Your boss is obviously and idiot. The fact that he's willing to put you at risk means he's either an oblivious idiot or doesn't give two shits about your well being.

I'm on the "don't panic" train, but this is just foolish.

I flew yesterday DEN to MSY. No one in either airport, 18 souls on board a 737. Very easy to do the social distancing thing. Airports both clean as a whistle and cleaners out and working. I fly back Wednesday. Not worried a bit.
