Miss that Roy Rogers.

Yeah, that Roy Rogers was top notch. Actual roasted beef, not processed meat.

Maybe, I grew up on Rosa 5 houses off of Veterans. Bought many Icees at that Timesaver myself.

BRich grew up on Focis..

Great neighborhood as a kid...

We had about 90 kids, within a 5 years span of each other, who grew up on E Wm David between Vets and W. Esplanade..

All Lakeshore kids.

Only family on Focis I knew were the Lafaso’s. Alan Hornbrook, owner of Parrain’s, lived on Wilshire Place behind Gaylord’s off Martin Behrman. I knew from E William David the Heyl’s, Kreider’s and Montalbano’s ( Montalbano’s may have lived on W William David, though).

Used to buy them all the time. That stick of gum was hard as a board.

Montalbanos or Mandellas?

Kreiders were West William David as well...

Heyls were on the second block off Vets...

Talk about a cast of characters down that way... Marcellos, yes that Marcello, lived on the third block.

Pak-A-Sak on Line Avenue across from Uptown Shopping Center. We loved these things.

Mr. Meriwether was a big supporter of the Rebels - both Lee High and Ole Miss. He would count down the days to teal season on a sign at this station "40 days TTS."

There was the National grocery store (and a One Hour Martinizing and Fidelity National Bank) in between them and I remember it as a Mobil station, but he may have rebranded. His original location, an Esso station, was where Red Zeppelin Pizza is today at Pickett Avenue. My friend and I would go to the former to get old lead tire weights. We'd melt them to make fishing tackle. Good times breathing lead fumes. That part of town has changed so much, but it was a great place to grow up.
