Oh, like Atlanta PD when I had a firearm stolen, and they called me six months later to ask if I found it??

Fake plates. Masks. QED.

If you have a crime problem big enough to justify this expense, move.

In Houston they are used throughout the Tanglewood, River Oaks, and Memorial areas. Those places are the opposite of the hood.

We have them at each of the four entrances to the neighborhood and the neighborhood is also a crime prevention district. I was told at our civic association meeting that the board doesn't have access to footage.

Assuming it’s a private neighborhood with private streets since the option of putting up a gated entrance(s) existed (but neighborhood residents didn’t want them) they can do what they want.

Readers are less restrictive than a gate. Should set up a way to not store any plates registered to addresses inside neighborhood, require an officially reported crime to be able to access a time frame of the stored non-residents’ plates, and have a set length of time when time periods without any reported crime will have their stored data erased.

We have one, they’re all over our small town too. We also have a gate so no crime issues either.

Thankfully, I live in a small suburban town where this is not an issue.

What state are you in? Texas AG sent a cease and desist order to flock to stop providing their service to private groups. Says they need a private investigators license for private use. City and law enforcement is ok to use Flock.

Flock is incredible. It accounts for most of the vehicle recoveries, missing person recoveries, and other criminal identification and arrests in many areas of the country. It’s invaluable when you need it.

The Flock was approved by the members.

Residents tags can be entered into the system and will be ignored. Not sure how that works.

Board will write up guidelines etc on how it will be used.

Cost for one camera is $2500/yr plus installation.

Will be interesting to see how it works out.

We have them because my neighbors are pussies. I voted no.

$5k so Karen feels safer.

Our Neighborhood in Houston wasn’t gated and seemed to become a target for undesirables. There was a significant uptick in crime even though the neighborhood itself was very nice. The HOA installed flock cameras at the entrances/exits and major intersections within the neighborhood.

It was there for about a year before we moved away, never heard of it directly leading to an arrest from activity in our area.

Now I live in a gated subdivision with gates, guards, and plate readers at the entrances.

I'm gonna have to bring this up. We've been having cars broken into and the night before some friends saw some urban youths walking around at midnight with their red riders bb guns out in plain sight. We're gonna have to do something before I have to serenade somebody on Sweet Caroline.

This is cheaper than a gate so that's an upside.
Also - not sure how it works where you live, but in Mandeville if there's a gate, then the subdivision itself is responsible for street/road maintenance. If no gate, the city is responsible.

I’m a bit slow on the uptake with this one. Either this is an inside joke, or it’s one hell of an anecdote that demands more details be provided!
