Source? If you think the government doesn’t look at social media trends then I don’t know what to tell you other than you are very naive.

Right?
That's what businesses do.

For every person up in arms worried about the virus there is someone to counter them saying that we need to open things up and the economy is more important
As far as this particular topic goes, the CDC is predicting a second wave in the winter. They're not expecting a second wave in the summer or fall. Just because OP observed a few idiots saying this it doesn't mean that decision makers are going to act on it.

Pretty sure I had it in nov or dec... it’s been here and not going away

They're politicians. If the drumbeat on social media is this is the worst virus since ___, politicians are going to follow the course of action that gives them the least exposure, even if there is a better alternative.

And we should listen to them now bc they were so right about the first wave?
OP made it sound like the idea of 2nd wave is only being murmured about on social media. I was just pointing out it had been widely discussed for a while.

But to this specific point there isn't some huge trend of people claiming there is going to be a second wave in summer or Autumn and it's not backed by any scientific projections either.
I'm guessing you have a few idiots on your social media like I do but there is nothing trending on this topic

I don't really care about it anymore. The worst it can do is kill me with some godawful suffocating death. After that, who cares? If you sit around worrying about death, then how can you possibly really live? Screw that, I'm going out and doing everything I've been doing. The people who are over this is way in the majority and it's going to take a hell of a lot more than .00whatever of the population dying for people to agree to do this again.
In all reality, we should start looking for the closest light pole to start stringing up these bastarrdoes for what they've done through their completely off models. The only thing they are professional/educated at is being completely wrong. That little Fauci shrimp needs to be drawn and quartered with each section sent N/S/E/W of the country.

I don't even believe in waves at sporting events.

The first wave isn't over

It’s sort of funny to me, where I live it’s almost like there’s been no shutdown. It’s a somewhat rural area with 2 decent sized towns 30 minutes apart. This whole time both cities have been slammed with ppl even more than they usually would’ve. So while the Karen’s are right that no one is staying home in this area, it makes me wonder how we can have a “second wave” if none of our behavior is any different?
Then again I also wonder how we can have a “second wave” in our area when we didn’t have a first but whatever I guess

The second wave theory suggests it won't come until the winter
The idea that hot, humid weather knocks it out doesn't make any sense to me. Manaus, Brazil and Guayaquil, Ecuador were both overwhelmed; though it didn't make much news in the States. It doesn't get much more hot/humid than those two places.

Have to get through the first wave. Which we are still riding. This virus isn't just going to magically disappear. Especially with the lack of leadership coming from the Whitehouse. It's only going to get worse from here on out.

I’m hearing chatter that the second wave expires on November 3rd.

UV rays do. In direct summer sunlight, the angle of the sun in the summer brings an intensity of solar radiation that quickly destroys the protein bonds that hold the virus together. That’s what kills it in the summer.
