If alcohol is legal one cannot make the argument against kratom.
But I do agree with legalizing shrooms.

Kratom should be legal but I highly doubt anyone is thinking “damn, kratom is illegal now in ascension parish so I guess it’s heroin for me”
Less that it's illegal, more that it's "I can either drive 30 miles round trip to buy kratom, or I can buy XYZ from the guy down the street."

This is simply NOT true.
Kratom can be highly habit forming with intense withdrawals same as hydrocodone. That said: while I don’t support it’s use, I still think it should be legal this is fricking America if people want to take it let them it’s better than fentanyl or heroin; you cannot overdose on it and you won’t rob people to pay for it.

We used to spend our days with family and community, being raised, and working 75% less than we do now.
Your entire post has a lot that is wrong, but this stood out to me. Until relatively recently, if you didn’t work the farms and care for the animals, you didn’t eat. The comfortable lifestyle you enjoy is mostly due to American prosperity, but don’t worry. You’re going to get your 75% less work as you know it if the democrats get their way.

It’s like the best cup of coffee you have ever had. I have called it sunshine in a cup. It makes me more social, talkative, energetic, focused, driven. I’ve used it to push trough 10 hours of manual labor after the flood. Used it to study and start a new business that without rose colored glasses I may have not, and has given me the financial freedom many dream of. When naive larger doses can be overwhelmingly euphoric where you close your eyes, but not sedating like eating 4 pieces of pizza at work.
I’m not trying to be an advocate for Kratom, just individual liberties. anything that good has it’s habitual tendencies. I am an advocate for healthy coping mechanism and developing resilience if possible.
Spoken like a true addict.

Except for the industrial rev. For the last 300 years we have worked more than ever.

Not commenting on its legality but I have met a few people who got addicted to kratom. As mentioned previously I've heard the withdrawals are pretty bad actually.

I have really severe nighttime nerve pain, would go days with little sleep, countless visits to specialists. I would actually spend hours rolling on a hard floor to get relief and it got to where I feared bedtime. Then I found kratom and it changed my life, I can still remember the first time I took it, 20 minutes later I was as comfortable as I had been in years, been using it ever since. It was made a felony to possess in Alabama so I moved.

ratom isn’t any worse than drinking coffee or tea. Crazy they banned it. Thanks big pharma who’s lost tons of money from former opioid users who recovered by using it. Kratom is great and anyone that says they’re addicted anymore than a coffee addict is a pussy wanting attention. Been taking it for a decade and when I stop for a bit it’s the exact same as when I used to quit drinking coffee. I’m more tired than usual for about a week. Tell you one thing I don’t get anxious or jittery like I did with coffee and I have an orthopedic friend who recommends kratom to patients because he’s so against opioids ReplyOptionsTop
This guy nailed it, I take it at night for years now. There have been times I've run out for a couple of days, I've never had 1 withdrawal symptom and I'm an addictive person, smoked for 20 years before I could give it up, so I know withdrawal.

If it’s easier to buy heroin from the guy down the street than to drive to the next parish over, then you live in a horrible neighborhood. If it’s that easy for you to get heroin then you’re probably already a user bc most people don’t have heroin dealers at their beck and call.
Kratom absolutely should be legal but that’s just a goofy argument.

I spent quite a few years dealing with drug courts. Kratom tended to be a fallback substance for those trying to kick other, more serious addictions. So yes, those people already have dealers on speed-dial.
ETA: On a related note, the treatment team fricking hated Kratom, because they thought it was a crutch that stopped people from fully recovering, and regulating it was a giant pain in the arse

They will probably just go get on suboxone or methadone which are far worse substances to be taking. Banning kratom is not something you do for the good of society.
