Disregarding the ATL/NOLA pissing match, it was a remarkable feat either way, as was this I-85 deal.
when a major transportation issue that effects as many commuters as those 2 projects did... everyone's inclined to remedy the situation... and quickly

How much did that cost with all the overtime?

Agreed. I guess it's what makes watching other projects languish for decades so frustrating.

It looked to only be 2 spans of the overpass. That's easy stuff since they are usually prefabbed to lift in place after support work done.
Crowley I10 overpass was damaged a few years back.....they had that shite down on days, not weeks...(span was hit from oversized truck hitting underneath). They lifeted out the old, replaced center support columns, and placed the pre fab sections into place...

In Louisiana they would do another study to figure out the best way to do it.
In Alabama they would tell us to find a way to make our cars fly over to the other side, cause it's not in the funds to fix it without a new gas tax.
Then when they did fix it would take 2-4 years.

Damn, that was quick as hell. Didn't expect it would be ready anywhere near that fast. They must have brought in half of Mexico to get it done that quick.

China could do it in a day.

Didn't bother to watch the video I see. Too busy?

I have a ton of respect for construction workers. I certainly have no knowledge of what all goes into it, but damn...

Thank God. Put a damper on my commute

Damn that was quick, props to those workers.
Here's a time lapse of road construction in SC

I'm no civil engineer, but they generally have a lot of concrete to pour also and they did on this Atlanta project. Concrete curing/ drying times I believe is the big hold up although I'm sure they stay busy doing other stuff it's not like they were sitting around for days watching it dry.
Looks like the project cost about $16 mil and then there will be a $3 mil bonus. Should be a solid payday for that company.

Sure hope they kick a little bonus over to the blue collars who worked on it and got it done

Huh? WTF are you saying? They did lots of work on the support structue and when all was good, they lifted 2 prefabricated sections into place.
I'm not sure what I said that was inaccurate in your mind.
I even gave of example of a similar project I saw in Crowley a few years back.
