You gotta work dat system.

1. Never get married to your baby momma, but live in the same house/apartment.
2. Don't let baby mamma get a full time job. She can work 10 hours a week at the local fast food.
3. Get baby momma on that WIC showing low income. Stay below the limit.
4. Your job pays for any luxuries - Altima, Challenger, dinner at Supper Club, etc.

Why would bigger trucks have better fuel economy? Need more space for all the tech that goes with that?

From what I understand, a larger vehicle is exempt from some of the standards.

Sounds like a joke, but its an epidemic right now.

There are massive financial incentives to game the system. Having religion and morals and a conscience are expensive as hell.

An analogue based car would avoid chip prices, avoid dealer computer update charges, avoid un needed repair expense . What's not to like?

People who pine for true analog cars either never drove them or have forgotten how much care and feeding they actually need to stay running. There is a reason almost nobody building a resto-mod builds it truly analog today.

It doesn't take much to stay under the threshold.
The average annual salary in Louisiana is approximately $52,284
That's $4,400 a month.

Single mom making $52k with 2 kids can easily meet that and get an extra $785 for groceries per month.

ETA: Higher income limits are available for households with a member who is over 60

That's why so many live in their grandma's house.

48 years old and have never nor ever plan on buying a brand new vehicle. It has nothing to do with not being able to afford one either.

New cars, especially new trucks are a scam.

I will continue to buy used and let the baws get those $90k trucks with the shitty V6 engines and 10 speed transmissions designed to blow up after 100k miles.

Find a particular make/model with a track record of longevity and stick to it.

One entire year of the average American’s labor for an average vehicle to get to the place at which they labor.

Unsustainable.

I'm looking at a 2001 7.3 crew cab xlt 4x4 with 74k miles. Seriously considering before they all dissappear. It would still be way less than 50k. Its mint

Yes I finance everything and it doesn’t bother me at all.
I am the same way, if I go belly up oh well. There is always more financing. I know a guy who is debt free, drives an old 90s car and lives in a trailer. Maybe he’s happy, he’s always saying how amazing it is to be debt free. Idk, it doesn’t bother me.

Friggen sucks for me… my bride is in a 2014 Camry pushing 180k miles and I’m in a 2017 Tundra with close to 200k. I was thinking pricing would settle down after a political change but they just keep climbing faster and faster it seems.

Plugs, points, condenser, and oil change every 6 months was never that big a deal. Depending on how much and where you drive an air filter every 6-12 months.

Even easier when there isn't 32 miles of spaghetti wires almost over the place.

Ther are good reasons why the 350 and 318 were considered bullet proof if you treated them halfway nice.

Cost at all time high, quality at all time low. Plastics and cheap electronics and buttons everywhere. Plastic oil pans, etc.

No thanks.
