Glad how it ended, but it’s a reminder of how expendable employers view their employees.
Did this sound better in your head?
The employers aren’t expendable, you meant the employees were expendable to employers.
you quite literally reworded exactly what he said.
Stay on the soccer board

Been with a new company for about 5 months now and they sent an email 3 weeks ago and said 2000 people will be let go by end of March. Global company so it could be from anywhere. I’m puckering a little but nothing I can do to stop it.
Same number and time frame my global company gave us. Hmm

But I read Boomers refuse to retire. What gives??
Best wishes for any facing layoffs. It's never fun.

Companies talk about and expect loyalty from employees, but baby that is a one way street. The second they turn red your arse is a gone pecan.
Get your paper while you can wherever you can.

Have to be honest, I walked away from my phone for a while after page 2 and forgot about it. Never thought this would go 9 pages.

Companies should focus on reducing the dei fat within hr instead of productive employees
Absolutely. HR should ALWAYS be the first to go.

I went through the same thing years ago. It’s absolutely terrifying, especially when you have a family.
I learned to never get to comfy in your current position. Also, I hope that working remotely will save company’s overhead expenses and they won’t have to chop so many heads.

Do HR people ever get laid off?
There are only young woke females in HR. They will not be laid off.

One thing I’ve learned is no matter how valuable, how well you’re doing, how we are a “work family”…. You’re just a number and they’ll happily chop your head off without blinking an eye.
I was laid off by actual family, close family. Didn’t know it was coming. I knew things were slow, but I would have never done it that way if roles were reversed. I’ve had a different outlook on what work is since that point.

Most companies do this before they go into the red….if you are in the red the company needs savings, loan, equity, stock sale, etc to pay employees.
Why would a company not lay people off if they are in the red? They are not making money?
You can’t be such an ignorant employee to expect your company to go bankrupt before they lay people off. Then literally no one has a job, that makes even less sense…

I believe you just about entirely missed his point.

Trying to hire some contract folks in plant for over 20 per hour and most can't pass drug test
shite we’re offering almost double that and have the same problem. Can’t find anyone and the ones we do fail the drug testing THAT THEY KNOW THEY HAVE TO TAKE! So frustrating.
One dumbass failed the alcohol breathalyzer test. How hard is it to not drink for one evening. He went night fishing and drank till 4am and thought a gallon of water and a piece of gum would mask it. Real Einstein
