Are you kidding?! I didn't get out of my car. Two thugs with a battering ram tried to block my escape, I gunned it and they jumped out of the way. Thinking back, it could have been a couple in the crosswalk with a stroller, but it all happened so fast. I barely got out of there alive.

You have convinced me, your anecdote seems much more convincing than multiple outlets reporting N.O. is the most dangerous city in America.

Exactly.

I was there last weekend as well. Walked around the FQ, went to a concert, etc.

Still doesn't mean NOLA, like BR, doesn't need a LOT of help.

Either way, I'm moving out this state in a few years regardless. Things are only going to get worse.

The people that say this haven’t been to Haiti -

I remember the last time I was in Haiti, I was about to have sex with a Haitian hooker and debating as to whether or not to wear a condom, then I thought, wtf? when will I ever be in Haiti again?

If one of those folks is killed this weekend you need to come back and apologize.

You sound like those entitled asses that live on Martha's Vineyard.
Looking out from the comfort and safety of your own car, you see a small bit during the daylight hours to assume all is well in the world

I mean go walk around in the bad area of any city and see what happens. Hey, I bet you won't go to an area that is known to be dangerous.

The problem with NOLA is there are way more bad areas than good. Reminds me of walking around Baltimore because you never really know when you’ve walked one block to far.

I bet those folks murdered on I-10 should have just stayed off the interestate.

Lived in NO for four years. The best part was driving away and seeing it in the rear view mirror. Will never go back.

Celebrating getting a nasty arse donut without being murdered. Small victories I guess.
