I am hearing similar...all hearsay of course. Someone talked to a lineman this morning, and they keep getting close to energizing, but keep finding small things to fix first. "Likely coming on today."
Both answers are likely polite ways of saying "leave us the hell alone and let us work."
My brother and nephew are both lineman. I'm promise you, they aren't just sitting around jerking off. Some are lazier than others. No question. But having bored/impatient neighbors constantly aggravating them doesn't help.

No complaining here at all but I am curious how my neighborhood off of Jefferson is without power but all the surrounding subdivions have it and the light on Antioch which is right by my house still does. Is it a local transformer that does that?

They have power 2 streets over from me in old Jefferson. Could be transformer damage I guess

Would be an odd sight outside by a downed power line for sure

How long would that take to fix in your opinion?

After gustav we went to the road and cheered for them as they passed like a parade

I don’t think any reasonable people are mad at the linemen. They are likely very annoyed with the senior management for not having taken more preventative measures or having an immediate plan for the linemen on the ground.

But everyone today is a hero for doing their job and must be treated as such.
I can’t wait to see the linemen doing Tiktok dance videos in the bucket trucks

Gee, I don't know. How about relevant text updates and a power outage map that actually works in 2021.
I guess expecting that from a monopoly is just too much.

Right. After Entergy been tacking an extra 30% onto our bills for the past few months, it's certainly not asking much for them to have improved recovery efforts even modestly in the past 13 years since Gustav.

I just think of it this way.. I worked for a company where we had techs out in the field every day, and it is extremely common to get to a job and realize you need XYZ to complete it, so you can't do it right then and there. Then you get a call telling you to go to a different job, and you may not return to the original one at all.
Now multiply that out for thousands of people scattered all over the place and certain businesses or people being a priority over others.. Any sort of estimate that isn't just vastly over exaggerated like Demco was doing is going to just be made up.
Its like when you go to a restaurant and the hostess tells you its a 20 minute wait, and then the tables decide to sip coffee and chat so that 20 minutes passes with no sign of sitting down soon.
Plus, it takes reports back from the field techs to even know how long each area will take.. which puts workers dedicating time to phone calls and updates instead of just working on the lines.
Just how I see it. I definitely get the frustration people have, but they have absolutely nothing to gain by not restoring everyone as quickly as possible.
I do agree the map should be better handled.

Demco has been talking in mostly generalities so far. Maybe today will be a big progress day for them.
I just drove around the BR area. Didn’t see a single Demco truck. I don’t think they have even begun turning people on yet beyond the very easy spots.

And you can bet there'll be another surcharge after this

Exactly. And THAT's why people are pissed. Pay more, but get less...far less.

I’d publicize the plan, priorities and expected impact of everything going on.
I’d categorize the impacts across general areas and neighborhoods as much as possible.

That sounds good, but I really doubt they even know the extent of things yet.

Which is a plus. I know that their price is almost double what AT&T offers though :/. Still would be cheaper than my gigablast from Cox so it is going in right direction haha

...a multi billion dollar monopoly.
Demco in a smaller scale is the same thing. This is what the result is when companies don’t have competition. They are 20 years behind in their technology.
