Cypress 249 got righteous fricked esp Champions

I lost two trees in my backyard. One hit my nextdoor neighbors garage. The other hit my backyard neighbor’s garage. My other nextdoor neighbor lost one that was across my driveway. Got a crew out Monday to clear my driveway. They came back out yesterday to clean up the trees on the garages. Total shite show here.

Champions Park North.

East of Cutten Rd, north of 1960, South of Cypresswood. Champions Golf club is about 1 mile to my east. I played at Ravennueax before it closed.

Just got power back this evening in our Tomball location, part of the neighborhood still out due to pole snapping and taking out transformer pole due to neglect mentioned earlier of CenterPoint

All this storm did was shine a light on CenterPoint lacking in the infrastructure upgrades that are needed

Everyone wanted deregulated electricity. Meet the consequences of deregulation. Poor infrastructure and maintenance. If a Cat 2 or 3 hits Houston, judging by what happened with Beryl, it will take many weeks to restore services.

Raises Hand! But I split it with the four neighbors two of the others were cool. One not much. One had there on tree that fell luckily between his house and another. My two were harder because they were crushing their garages. I probably didn’t have to pay anything but I felt I should do the right thing.

Thanks for the surfside update. I plan to head there tomorrow and spend the weekend helping neighbors. If you need any help let me know and I’ll track you down.

We really liked a nice house in Lakewood Forest on a 1 acre lot. We waited too long and it was claimed. No regrets though, it flooded twice in the first few years after we bought this place in 2015.

If a Cat 2 or 3 comes I’m leaving for a month based off this experience

You're right about that.

Remember this image that Entergy released after Hurricane Ida. I know Houston metro probably has more underground lines, but it also has many more poles than Louisiana.

Beryl was somewhere between Gustav and Zeta and probably closer to Zeta than to Gustav in number of poles damaged.

They just moved there in fall of 2022 .. they like it so far. I think that they plan to move back to Louisiana at some point but who knows.

The transmission and distribution companies like Centerpoint are regulated utilities. You don’t have a choice on that.

My buddy lives off Meadow Ranch and said his power just came back on.

I'm a little further south in Pecan Grove. Eye went directly over us. All the mature trees here didn't stand a chance. Went outside while we were in the eye and (even though it was calm), you could still hear trees cracking.

Centerpoint wasn't prepared for this at all. Hoping tomorrow is the day I get power back. Until then, just feeding the generator and cleaning up what I can.
