Wait so you think because government controls a monopoly means it would have better infrastructure and maintenance?

Lolz

I'm not too far from you, just on the east side of 99.

Allegedly 80% of my neighborhood has power, but the remaining 20%, which includes me, is gonna be SOL for a few more days due to a damaged transformer.

I also see some pieces dangling off the electrical lines and equipment that runs behind my house, and I don't remember seeing that before the storm...

Same in Magnolia near Research Forest. Cut up some venison sausage and made a big jambalaya last night.

Gas stations are becoming more available that’s good. HEB has really impressed me with how stocked up their shelves have been during this entire thing. They’ll continue to get my support.

CenterPoint is so fricking useless. This is unbelievable. It was barely a damn Cat 1. Totally unacceptable

They keep bullshitting now they’re patting themselves on the back stating how many they’ve restored rather than giving actual answers. frick them

Their communication of what will be restored is unbelievably horrible.I get that there is damage and things need to be repaired. Give us an understanding if this is a couple days or if it's going to be weeks. I'll send wife on vacation somewhere if it's going to be weeks.

Had power come back shortly after 1 AM this morning. Went out again around 4 and came back on around 6.

Map still shows my area is being evaluated.

My circuit is still in the “Assessment in progress”. Incredible 3 days after the storm they still have no idea what needs to be done to fix the issue.

I got this email from CP last night:
quote:

CenterPoint Energy and mutual assistance crews continue focusing on restoring power to the 2.26 million customers impacted by Hurricane Beryl. During the damage assessment phase we walked more than 8,500 miles of circuits uncovering downed trees and debris, impacting poles and wires across our system. We understand how important it is for customers to be able to plan around their outages, so more specific estimated restoration times will be available tomorrow. Thank you for your patience.

Walked 8500 miles of lines? Why the frick do they not have UAV / Drones in the air for assessment? Entergy has them flying in the areas they service. Quicker to understand the issues the quicker (and safer) crews will be able to get lines up and running.

Also stories coming out of mismanagement of linemen from out of state… KHOU - Why are CenterPoint repair trucks sitting in parking lots? Here's what we found out

quote:

In Galveston, we checked in with the lineman. He said he got on the clock at 6 a.m. It was just before 9 a.m. when we talked. "We’re sitting in a parking lot," he said by phone. Sitting and waiting for his work orders. At 10:20 a.m., the lineman texted "still nothing." At 11:29 a.m., he texted "we got work now."

Nice half day pay to sit around. I won’t quote all of KHOU’s investigation because it’s more of the same. Crews sitting on their arse waiting on orders. Ineptitude and incompetence is astonishing.

As someone new to the area from BR I’m just shocked at how unprepared and seemingly incapable the efforts are pre and post storm.
Centerpoint saying 2-3 weeks for power restoration is absolutely insane, especially since it’s happened before, how have those issues not been addressed since Ike?

Louisiana is corrupt and backwards in a lot of their shite but man they had a plan in place and hit the ground running.

Even the hospital systems here didn’t have proper generator power on standby.

Like others have said this storm wasn’t even that bad, if a 3 or worse hit this area it would be complete chaos.

I feel for the workers. They want to help I bet - they’re probably in the same boat as other Houston people themselves.

Poor systems and poor leadership are to blame when there are issues like this.

We’re screwed. When do you think we’ll get power? I don’t think it comes back until middle of next week. 1488 and 2978 still don’t have power as of this morning.

Yeah this is ineptitude on many levels and a deep look needs to be taken at Maintenence of the infrastructure. IKE had higher winds and we got power back in 72 hrs. Our neighborhood was hit way harder in Ike and got power on quicker. Still no end in site as it took them 3 days to even start looking at what needs to be fixed.

Governor Abbott has a great case here to drop the fricking hammer on them. Enough is enough.

IMO they need their coverage area on the electrical side vastly reduced. Perhaps to Harris county only then divide all the surrounding areas up among Entergy and Oncor.

It’s ridiculous that I am less than 2 miles away from where Entergy’s area begins and I don’t have the choice between them or CenterPoint.

I spoke to 2 different lineman yesterday and they both said the same thing. Center point has not clue what they doing. They dispatch them to fix something, they fix it, call it in and wait on instructions. Said every time they are waiting 3 hours or so before they send them to the next location. It was 6 pm and he had only been to 2 different places that day because he spent most of the day waiting on Centerpoint to tell them where to go. Another truck said the same thing.

We were in the Heights and we didn’t have power for 2 weeks. It is pretty location specific.
