For a formal event. Stainless steel preferably
Baume et Mercier, Longines, Tissot, Seiko and many others make nice dress watches in the price range.
The key for formal events is a simple watch, preferably two hands not more than 38mm and with a leather strap.
The Hamilton Intra-Matic line is a great value and is an excellent simple dress watch.
I like the silver and smoked dials both available for around $600

I think a Sinn 556 should be at least looked at in that range.

Perfect watch really for florida. Can wear it for dress...casual...and with no stains sweating through the band and no worries about getting wet

Even a Mathey-Tissot is still great value. Can find great looks at much less than 1.5k. Much lower.

I’ve never worn a ring.
I wear a nice watch every day.

Of my watches in that price range, Oris TT1 and Ball Trainmaster Cleveland Express. I wear them more than anything else.

I was reluctant at first but now can’t get along without my Apple Watch 4. Will spring for a new one in another year or so.

One that is solar powered and has its time set by atomic clock nightly. Indestructible and you never have to fool with it.

I’ve had my Aaron-Taylor for 13 years. Bought it when they were still at the old location on main. I love that timepiece.

Just thought of Revue Thommen as well. Some very good < 1K deals out there on some 3K+ watches.
