Yeah but you're still in the Birmingham area. All decent sized cities have nice suburbs which I suppose is fine if you don't have to go in to the city everyday

only place to work would be Tyler or Longview. is it really better than say, Louisiana?

what's wrong with Birmingham? it hasnt been taken over by Northerners, which is enough for me. all cities have shitty parts. it's not like I will have a reason to visit them anyway

All of your specifics make Lake Charles, LA seem like a good option.

Not very big, traffic isn't bad. Astros are 3 hours away, plus McNeese's baseball team is getting pretty good. And your 15 minutes away from some of the best fishing in Louisiana (Big Lake). You can take your boat out on the lake/river right there in the city as well. Idk much about the schools though. Plus you can have a Darrell's Special everyday if you wanted

I actually like Birmingham a lot. Probably a better choice than Tyler, but it's Alabama.

Better roads and economy north of Nac and Lufkin, south of there, well.

I would say the greatest city in America, Boulder of course, but you probably don't have the funds, intelligence, fitness level, or liberal views to truly thrive here.

Greenville SC is a good option if you want a smaller city.

-lakes close
-mountains close
-not a terribly long drive to both Atlanta and Charlotte
-good job market with the auto boom there
-not a bad little downtown
-SC taxes

Mobile's crime has gone up a lot. My sister lives there and is desperate to get out.

the only downside to living in Alabama I can come up with is that I will need to get a concealed carry to carry my rifle in my truck.

bullshite...
