Get you some beard oil on Amazon. Basically conditioner for your beard and smells nice.

Yeah, I did by both of those on Amazon...finally had an excuse to use that gift card. Some Amish name company, bought the oil and balm.

I have been researching this a lot, but want some first hand knowledge. What is your go-to? What is better to reduce the itch and make it look best - oils, lotion, etc.?
Keep growing. Longer it gets, the less itch you have. Unless you go too long, or too short, between washing it.
A) Find a good conditioner for your beard. Don't use the same as you use on the hair on top of your head.
B) For me, beard oil never did much for the itch. Then again, I didn't start using it till I was almost to a yeard already.
C) Get a nice comb or brush. Makes a world of difference over the long run.
Instead of beard oil, try Bert's Bees Miracle Salve. Smell can be a tad strong for the user, but others don't notice. Nothing else I've tried hydrates as well as it does. It's also thick enough to use when your are trying to shape the beard. Whereas oil is strictly a conditioner. Using it, you wouldn't need a balm, or beard paste. Though might still want paste for the mustache once it reaches a certain length.
I've had a beard of varying lengths for 10 years. Hipsters have almost made me want to shave it though. Oh, and all of the Duck Dynasty comments I get from more rural areas.

I've got a beard like a billy goat.
When it itches I usually just scratch it and then man-the-frick-up about it.

I'm about ready to hack mine off because of the nasty hippies.
OP, just wash the damn thing when you wash your hair and it'll be good.
