I think it was the toys I made myself. A rifle carved by hand out of a 1X4. A motorbike made from my bicycle with cards attached with close pins, slapping across the tire spokes to make the engine noise, while I layed across the rear fend, the seat and the handle bars and soomed down East Boulevard near St. Agnes, my alma mater, and the Original Skate Board made with 2X4's and a pair of old outdoor metal skates!

Born 1979.
3 1/2" G.I. Joes FTW. That was my favorite of favorites.
Hot Wheels was an early favorite. Went through a Ghostbusters phase and had all the toys. Had a ton of Construx.
I also had an arsenal of toy guns.

King of the Hill is similar - not the exact one I was thinking of but close. The one I remember was flat and fellow and shaped like a plus sign.
