so far you have gotten a speeding ticket for speeding, you have paid a ticket online, where the only problem was your mistake, and you were impatient with process of the way they notify the DA that you have settled your debt...but the lady was nice enough to help you and assure you that they were taking care of it.
Sounds like you are damn near at your breaking point. I am sorry.

Beware driving through Evangeline Parish by thekid
This parish is a joke.
I got a speeding ticket...I was going 85 in a 75 on the interstate...fair.
The ticket is $290!!!!
How many times did you speed there and not get caught? If, say, 10 times, that’s only $29 averaged out. It’s probably a lot lower if you travel the area frequently.

It’s right at the Whiteville (I know, racist) / Bunkie exit.

I got a ticket one time in Evangeline and I was going 9 over the speed limit. We even talked about it because I told him I had my cruise set on 9 mph over thinking I wouldn’t get a ticket.
I signed the ticket and pulled away, only to discover later that he had me marked for 14 over the limit. I didn’t even look, just signed and drove off. Got me!

Sheriff? There's like 5 miles total of interstate in Evangeline
I got mine by a LSP on that 5 miles stretch near the exit for the back way into Chicot Park.
I was on my way to Shreveport though.

When I used to drive to Dallas regularly my radar detector saved my arse on dozens of occasions of I-49. Speed traps were usually the worst north of Alexandria, especially near Boyce, Natchitoches, and just south of Shreveport, but I've seen them all up and down the interstate. They all use Ka-band radar, which are super easy to detect if you get a $200-300 detector, almost foolproof (I use a Uniden R3). They don't use laser as far as I know, which is newer technology and much harder to avoid.
But yeah, if you call the courthouse they'll probably let you do pre-trial diversion, which will probably knock down the ticket fine some and won't leave anything on your record so it doesn't affect insurance.

I wasn’t really hurrying just driving with the flow of traffic...

Was the deputy a Fontenot?
I think half the parish residents are named Fontenot.

I love their cops with the tasteful body art. Really exudes authority and good judgement.

This has nothing to do with covid, ticket prices have been like that in a lot of parishes. Most of the time you call the station and they all but tell you, "just send the check here and its literally like it never happened." Just wait until you try to find it in the system to pay for it though lol I'd give it until about a week before its due.

That’ll show em. What exactly were you gonna buy there anyway? A tank of gas? They’re better off giving you a ticket.
Hell, Where would he buy the gas? The only thing that I know that's in Washington is that run down restaurant on the Bayou.
