But look at all those empty incoming lanes. Seems silly to just have people deadlocked when they could use the wide open lanes.

Fox Weather is showing Oahu right now and the water is slowly receding.

I am watching the Banzai Pipeline between Hale'iwa and Sunset Beach on O'ahu. It should be prime for the biggest waves because it is facing the trajectory of the tsunami and the sea floor is perfect for producing big waves. There are probably others but I have this one bookmarked so I can dream about being out there while sitting at my desk.
ETA they expected first waves in Hawaii at 7:17 (12:27 central) but I assume that is for the Napali coast on Kauai, not sure how long it will take to travel another 100 miles.

That’s super relaxing to watch. I’m sure not so for the locals.

I see buoys off Kauai have started spiking. About to see what it tops out at.

LAT - LATITUDE (N-NORTH, S-SOUTH)
LON - LONGITUDE (E-EAST, W-WEST)
TIME - TIME OF THE MEASUREMENT (Z IS UTC IS GREENWICH TIME)
AMPL - TSUNAMI AMPLITUDE MEASURED RELATIVE TO NORMAL SEA LEVEL.
IT IS ...NOT... CREST-TO-TROUGH WAVE HEIGHT.
VALUES ARE GIVEN IN BOTH METERS(M) AND FEET(FT).
PER - PERIOD OF TIME IN MINUTES(MIN) FROM ONE WAVE TO THE NEXT.
NOTE - DART MEASUREMENTS ARE FROM THE DEEP OCEAN AND THEY
ARE GENERALLY MUCH SMALLER THAN WOULD BE COASTAL
MEASUREMENTS AT SIMILAR LOCATIONS.
EVALUATION
TSUNAMI WAVES ARE NOW IMPACTING THE STATE OF HAWAII. URGENT
ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PROTECT LIVES AND PROPERTY.
A TSUNAMI IS A SERIES OF LONG OCEAN WAVES. EACH INDIVIDUAL WAVE
CREST CAN LAST 5 TO 15 MINUTES OR MORE AND EXTENSIVELY FLOOD
COASTAL AREAS. THE DANGER MAY PERSIST FOR MANY MORE HOURS AS
WAVES ACTIVITY CONTINUES. TSUNAMI WAVES EFFICIENTLY WRAP AROUND
ISLANDS SO ALL SHORES ARE AT RISK NO MATTER WHICH DIRECTION THEY
FACE. THE TROUGH OF A TSUNAMI WAVE MAY TEMPORARILY EXPOSE THE
SEAFLOOR BUT THE AREA WILL QUICKLY FLOOD AGAIN. EXTREMELY STRONG
AND UNUSUAL NEARSHORE CURRENTS CAN ACCOMPANY A TSUNAMI. DEBRIS
PICKED UP AND CARRIED BY A TSUNAMI AMPLIFIES ITS DESTRUCTIVE
POWER. SIMULTANEOUS HIGH TIDES OR HIGH SURF CAN SIGNIFICANTLY
INCREASE THE TSUNAMI HAZARD.
FURTHER MESSAGES WILL BE ISSUED HOURLY OR SOONER AS CONDITIONS
WARRANT UNTIL THE THREAT TO HAWAII HAS PASSED.

Do you dream of getting pounded by one the heaviest waves on earth into a reef and drowning?

I dream of going back to my 20s and 30s and riding perfect 10-footers on the Pipeline, absolutely. Shallow, dangerous, and crowded, but the waves can be perfect and intoxicating. Nothing like the North Shore and nothing like Pipeline.
At my age and diminished skill Hale'iwa Beach Park is more my speed now.

I’m doing the late night shift, watching Fox Weather per your recommendation…the talent at 2:40 a.m. cst is a GD smoke show.
