Maybe that animation is just crappy, but it just looks like it spreads out enough to not cause widespread damage on the West Coast. Is there a better visual I could see?

I've gotten two on my phone so far. I'm not that close to the water but not much I can do anyway. I'm on the second floor and hopefully don't see the water any closer than it already is.

This woman with a strong Russian like accent on Fox Weather is doing a great job explaining.

Are you talking about your trolling me? Yeah, you're not good at it.

That animation was crappy at whatever it was trying to convey.

I mean you only care about Hawaii. Not Alaska natives.

You are the definition of a bigot.

You should always know about all the cultures in the world as a white man

Perspective:

The earthquake tsunami is so bad, it made Sean Hannity stop talking about politics

Seriously though, this brings back memories of watching Fukushima and that aftermath. That shite was so sad.

If there's a tsunami out there, Hawaii will benefit from knowing that Wake and Midway are out there and will update

Yeah it's not AS close to what people who consider traditionally populated areas, but it will have far-reaching impacts more so than that one.

Seismographs at Virginia Tech recorded shaking from this quake. I imagine a large part of the globe recorded something from it.

Pretty much any seismograph will pick this up.

We, and other countries, have buoys in the open Pacific that will help track wave height.

Ok, so I'm gonna ask a stupid arse question.

How would the Gulf Coast be impacted by a tsunami from an earthquake? Would the origin need to be somewhere like Venezuela or elsewhere on the top of South America to hit the Gulf Coast?

If a large part of the continental shelf off of LA decided to landslide for whatever reason, we would probably be toast

I don't know of any realistic scenarios off the top of my head.
