Was up in the mountains last week and forgot what that kind of cold felt like. Couldnt imagine doing it long term. Especially in a place not as striking to look at as central Colorado.

The last 6 or 7 runs agree we won’t go above 40 for about 3 days. Most of it spent below freezing. I’m starting my drive to Miami

So, umm, the 00z Euro has brought temps down considerably.
From 12AM on 1/1 to 6PM on 1/5, the WARMEST Baton Rouge gets is 42 degrees. Lows get to 20 a few nights, then 18 degrees by the end of the run. Wow.

I think I'd almost rather the snow over this crap weather today.

This. I'm loving this cold weather. If this keeps up, at least we won't have so many skeeters and other bugs this spring.

Upper Yosemite got 700” of snow last year. Deep freeze....
I did a hike in late July after most of it melted, and have never been so miserable in my life. They were in there thick.

Just imagine how cold it would be if we didn't have all this global warming going on!
This would be Chris Nakamoto trying to report something outside of Sharon Broom's office.

Need some updates of the maps.

Yeah it looks like the Euro shifted the cold pool to the west. Curious to see if the next run sticks with it.
Here's this morning's NWS Houston discussion:
Goes on to discuss potential of freezing rain/drizzle in northern parts of forecast area.
Here's this morning's NWS Houston discussion:
quote:
The second, much stronger front looks to arrive late in the
weekend as an Arctic airmass located near the Northwest
Territories of Canada early this morning is dislodged by an upper
trough axis diving southeast across North America later this
week. When this colder air will arrive... and how cold it will
be... are still somewhat uncertain at this point in time as upper
air patterns don`t necessarily drive the colder air straight into
Texas but allow the surface high to spread across the lower 48 as
it oozes south and east. This surface high enters the region
sometime on Sunday, with east winds gradually backing to the north
as the Artic air spreads into the region. Continued cold air
advection as this happens will allow for temperatures to fall
below freezing in many locations north of a Somerville to
Cleveland line by Monday morning, with highs Monday only climbing
into the upper 30s to mid 40s.
