Anything by Lee Child. The Jack Reacher series. The books are 10x's better than the way that vag Tom Cruise portrays them.
I'm reading 61 hours at the moment.
So far so good.
I also like the John Ringo series.

Anything by James Rollins. Similar to Dan Brown in that he does a lot of historical fiction. Just read Bone Labyrinth, good read.

The Grapes of Wrath of Khan by Gene Roddenbeckstein
It explores the warlord's early days, the hardships he suffered during his dust-bowl era trek to California and how it inspired him to later create the Genesis device.

It was made into the greatest Christmas movie of all time, A Christmas Story.
There was also a sequel made, though I can't remember the name. It focused on events that happened some years after the first movie, and as I recall, was mostly centered around Ralph's relationship with his dad.
I've never read the book, but I should.

Historical Fiction set during WWII.
Tense but also has a good amount of comedy thrown in.
Very easy and enjoyable read.

If you like WWII military history, any book by Anthony Beevor is a must read. Stalingrad and The Fall of Berlin 1945 are absolutely incredible in their descriptions of the war and the tragedy that follows war.
