Can they just wall off North BR completely. Is that a possibility? Just throwing it out there...

You take that exit and it’s like Chevy chase getting his hub caps stolen

Pretty racist that Washington St. now only has one exit instead of two.

The blacks never cared about the dumb ramp. It’s only because white people wanted it closed so badly that they opposed it.

Good, since Washington street doesn't even exist anymore, since they axed the name of our greatest president and replaced it with some irreverent black female functionary.

But declined to rename the exit. Always pissed me off

How can closing an interstate exit ramp possibly be a threat to the environment of the nation???? God I hate the government.

I am convinced, that if there were 2 vehicles travelling east bound on I-10 across the bridge at 2AM, they would still bottleneck where I-10 forks into I-110 and Washington Street.

More seriously, this is great news for motorists. Would love to know how this (finally) came about.

On a side note, the construction in TX between the Sabine and Orange, TX is complete. It took like 20 years to add one east bound lane and one west bound lane about 4 miles long on I-10.

On another note WTF is taking so long to open up on/off ramps at Pecue. They are now pushing it back to March.

Pecue I-10 ramps are now opening tomorrow.
quote:

State highway officials say a new interchange between Interstate 10 and Pecue Lane will open Wednesday, after saying last week that it would be March before a change in traffic patterns.

Wednesday's opening marks the end of a yearslong project to improve traffic flow in the southeastern part of East Baton Rouge Parish. It is expected to ease backups at Siegen Lane and Highland Road for residents in St. George.

The new exit includes a "diverging diamond interchange," in which traffic crosses left of center to make it easier to access both roadways. The highway department says the design reduces "conflict points."

Nobody has… it’s going over my head why folks are celebrating… this will cause traffic to be even slower

I travel this everyday and while I don't see this everyday I see it way too often. And what makes it worse is I've personally witnessed people pass traffic in the new washington street exit get back over and merge across all 3 lanes to get off on the old washington street exit. Furthermore, I have watched BR police officers and school buses cut off traffic to use the old exit. This is 58 years past due.

How it’s described… wouldn’t drivers on 110 be better off exiting on North Blvd or Government if going that way toward Lorri Burgess

It's part of a larger project. The exit will still exist once the project is completed, but with a (hopefully) better design since only traffic going westbound over the bridge will have access to the exit. The exit lane will be the third and true exit lane.
