I would also add that I have a back for finding creative solutions to problems

My job pays well but is pretty high stress at times. Luckily I get 30 days of paid time off per year or I'd burn out pretty quickly.

This sounds ideal. I greatly prefer a work environment where people just leave me alone with the small talk so I can get my shite done and go home.

My coworkers are awesome. It's like working with best buds all day.

So you are saying you did great at Burger King, but can't cut it at the Chik-fil-a? I kid, I kid.
I've been at my current job for eleven years. There are about sixty of us here. There are a lot of people I have nothing in common with, but there are a few I do. How many people are in your office? There isn't at least one single person there you could find a common interest with?
There are also a ton of different personalities here that can often clash. I get along with everyone more or less because I avoid getting sucked into an office clique, and stay out of the office politics. I do get a little burned out from time to time, but then I take a long weekend and I'm good for awhile.
I don't socialize with any co-workers outside of work, mainly because I don't have the time. But even if I did, it would be limited. Like someone said above, it may not be such a bad thing after all. It allows you to get your shite done and go home. Bring a book; read in your downtime. I do that.

So you're no longer surrounded by idiots?

Most of my coworkers are incredibly uninteresting and dull.
I lean heavily on friends outside of work.

I'm lucky...there are three of us on this site...and I am the project lead....the other two guys are very different...but we find common ground on certain topics and interests...like we all enjoy guns and shooting.
the education and common sense stuff though...I get that...I have a ton more education and training than either one...and I think in big picture scenarios where both of the other guys can't seem to do that......they can't problem solve and they can't deal with customers and people very well...both are super technical but they have no forethought or strategic skills at all. It gets frustrating trying to get them on the same thought process as myself and the PM because they don't understand why we are planning out something that will happen in 6 months...
but everything else about my job...is great.

I feel the same way. I’m 26 and the people around my age are mostly entry level peons so I don’t get to engage with them much, but I like a bunch of them. I miss out on the fun stuff they do because I’m always in on exec meetings and dealing with the CEOs bullshite.
The exec team has their head in the clouds. Totally unaware of what’s happening. I try to warn them about shite and fix problems but they all just pass blame and the CEO isn’t in the office a lot and doesn’t listen anyway.
I have 3 interviews next week. Excited to hand in my resignation that I wrote a month ago after my 2% raise.

So you went from being blue collar to white collar, and realize now that the white collars really were smarter than you the whole time huh

Pretty much. Luckily, I changed jobs and I don't have to go into an office anymore, but for a while I was the youngest person in my office by probably 15 years (at minimum). It was pretty shitty.

I don't go to work to make friends. I go to work to make money so I can booze and drug with my friends.

I went from extremely white collar to white with a hint of blue.
But they aren't the type of guys you want to hang out with, or the type of guys you talk to.
Their lives revolve around this place. I went from 90+ hours a week to 55. But this 55 is exhausting from a lack of shite to do.

You're probably the weird bad breath guy no one wants to hang out with socially.

Nothing like being surrounded by incompetents that you have nothing in common with .........

Especially watching shows like Mad Men and others set in the 50s and 60s and the only thing they had on their desks were typewriters or a telephone. That's probably why they were all banging the secretaries, literally nothing else to do.

My first "real" job was with a finance company. They blocked the internet for us. The only thing we had access to was MapQuest, back when that was a thing. I would spend my days looking at satellite views of different parts of the world.

Wierd yes. But I seem to be the only one with any sort of life outside of this place.
Also eat a dick.
