Their loss. I'll never negotiate blind based on an order. So their loss. Guess we're driving our cars until the wheels fall off.

The douchebag sales guy would not let us test drive a car if we weren’t willing to buy that exact car off of his lot.

Why didn’t you just say you were willing to buy it to take the test drive? A test drive isn’t an obligation to buy it.

Aren't their laws in most states that prevents manufacturers from selling directly to the public?

I read about this a few months ago when it was mentioned on a earnings call with either gm or Ford and a show I listen to discussed it.

I think there's like 20-25 states that already allow direct to consumer car sales and tesla has already gotten laws made to allow them to sell directly in like 15 more, so they sell direct in most of the country, save for a handful of states. The laws will change as evs become more popular with all these new manufacturers, and a google search shows its a popular bill coming up in alot of states to vote on. It's only a matter of time.

Buying a car sucks. So does selling a car, apparently.

Good luck...because there are 0 and you cant order one.

I was also told by Houston that I CAN NOT order outside of the region (idk protected sales territories maybe)

toyota/lexus uses a distributor (gulf states toyota I believe) in between the manufacturer and the dealer.

Do you have access to a computer?

This is the correct answer. First create a separate Gmail account. Do everything online and don't let them change it when you show up.

Yeah. The supply and demand issues have really turned these already crooked guys into total 90’s. Automatic percentage on top of msrp and then when they got that it was like what else can we do to get more out of people and pad out pockets. Oh I know. Sell gap, paint less dent repair insurance along with tire and rim coverage. Added almost 5k to the price. When told I don’t need or want any of that, they said they would not do the deal without as they would loose money? I’m like bitch I gave you your asking price! If you are loosing money why is that your asking price? Actually told me that there is someone else that’s wants it and they will take the added and they will sell it to him. I said o really?? So I’m signing papers but you have someone else working a deal on the same vehicle????? I swear I want to throat punch people sometime. Just tell me it’s a racket to make money and that’s what you’re going to do. shite I’d respect that more than lying through your fricking teeth.

Louisiana has shot it down 2 yrs in a row I think. Don't want to lose the auto lobby campaign money. It's a bullshite law.

You guys should just buy Subarus. Mine is due in a couple of weeks without any of this run around. Financed through my bank, no add ons, they didn't blink on closing the deal.

Also bought my daughter one a few months ago that I just paid cash for. They offered upsales, but didn't pressure.

Actually bought an Acura MDX for the wife in June also without pressure, they just wanted to move vehicles.

These rants seem weird, I didn't want to buy any of these vehicles, but circumstances forced them. Not once were the dealerships a pain other than no room to negotiate.

Just wait there cowboy. That price arbitrage with electricity isn’t going to last, and neither is that battery and awful quality control. Enjoy

Did you know that you can't buy just one tire on a Subaru. If you do, you have to get it shaved down to the wear of the other tires.

Sounds like a pain in the arse

I have heard this, but had a situation on my last one where the dealership put two new ones on without shaving them after having 24K miles on the originals.

Some may be dealer flexibility, but I think some is internet hyperbole

I think that's more of a myth than anything else. I've had to replace the RF tire on my Audi twice and never had to do anything to the other tires. Though both were replaced with very low miles. Maybe if the discrepancy is 30-40k you'd have an issue.

It really applies to any awd car with a cvt, which is a lot of popular ones. Reports of problems are anecdotal as are ours with no issues. As long as work is done by dealership there aren't worries of voiding warranty.
