It's ridiculous. What's the point of even carrying collision if they're going to just jack your rates up until they recapture the outlay beyond the deductible. It's basically just a form of financing the repair costs.

Well you don't really have a choice on whether or not to carry collision coverage if you're financing or leasing.

But if you're making a claim against your collision coverage, most of the time its involving an accident with another vehicle that you were at-fault for. So you're going to get surcharged for the accident anyway when the other driver makes a claim against your policy. Your rates are going up already at that point, so you might as well get your insurance to pay for your vehicle repairs too.

It would be different if it was a minor single vehicle accident like you backing into a mailbox or something. Then you should really weigh whether the amount of damage is worth a 50% or more rate increase for a few years vs paying out of pocket without ever involving your insurance.

Take total payout from insurance from accident, divide by either 24 or 36 (months - cant remember which). Add this amount to your premium.

Thats how it works. Its bullshite.

I wish someone would start a new car line that has the very minimal technology. No bumper sensors, no windshield sensors, and all that crap that causes minor repairs to cost thousands which then causes insurance to skyrocket.

Same here. My insurer saed state had handed over a big rate hike.

The insurance company has to ask for the rate hike. The state didn't just hand them free money.

My car insurance doubled after 1 claim less than 4000 dollars to repair my own bumper with camera. Does that seem right? What are good choices of car insurance? I presently have National General.

This squeeze will continue.

They arent done separating rich and poor yet. We are too concerned with Pride people and Ukraine to even sit here in awe as the gradual separation continues.

Insurance Companies are 100% full of shite as are the plaintiff lawyers.
This entire system is converting to government run corporate at 3 - 10xs recent rates. The goal is to completely eliminate the middle class and convert ALL private assets to control by corrupt Marxists.
The transition is in Stage 4 of 5 with the final implementation on target to commence in 2025.
And nobody is going to do jack shite to even slow it down, let alone stop it.

You probably lost your good driver discount and the insurance also increased because of the accident itself (increased risk). Add into that the yearly rate increase and that probably accounts for your doubling.

I'm in surplus lines insurance and it's a mess right now as well.

Some of our account premiums have doubled in the past three years, and that's with us putting together good programs and netting down commission.

And don't even mention Louisiana risks, we really are the laughing stock of the insurance industry.

My car insurance with State Farm has steadily gone up over 5 years on two cars. The last increase wasn’t gradual. It was a massive jump. Told the wife to start shopping them. $440 for two cars both owned outright is outrageous.
Especially with no claims or marks on driving records

Started off paying $230 for 2 cars with state farm.

A year later those frickers were charging me $300. No accidents, both drive Yota’s, clean driving records

Switched to Geico last month, it was $160 for 2

We haven't had a claim since the 2016 flood (I lost my vehicle to it) but ours recently jumped $60/month. I've been with Progressive for over a decade so having them re-write my policy would erase all my other discounts (multi-car, homeowners, etc).

My insurance doubled when I moved in and has gone up again since. Seems like there’s so many ambulance chasers here, probably has a lot to do with. And the grand theft auto.

State Farm had a 18% rate increase go into effect in june.

For all those shopping the other companies in the state have filed for at 18% of more. So if you switch its going up.
