When a tough problem arises, dealerships like throwing parts at them because they make money. A lot of them only have one ASE mechanic now, and that is the guy who should be figuring it out. If your car just died all of a sudden, only the PCM could have been the problem out of those. Short or loose connection. Everything else was just money in the bank for the dealership.

They need to get someone who knows about cars to look at everything electrical first.

Did they look at the fuel pump?

My truck was doing something very similar.

Turns out in my case my fuel pump module lid was cracked. When I would slow down the truck would lose power and sometimes stall. Replaced the fuel pump assembly and fuel filter and everything was back to normal.

The fuel pump, valve comments piqued my interest. I think there may be a factory recall for my auto. I noticed the problem occurs after fill up.

Research yielded the following:

"The problem was traced to the multifunction control valve fuel shutoff float in the 19-gallon tanks. The float can swell into a stuck open position, allowing an overfill condition."

My next battle will be to get the dealership to recognize the fix and replace the fuel tank. The valve is built into the tank structure.

The quick fix is not to completely fill the gas tank.

Drives an F150. Very common problem for the fuel module to fall apart.

#1. NEVER take a vehicle to a stealership for repair.
#2. Attend a local vocational school for auto mechanics.

This is why you drive a Toyota or a Honda. I won't buy American again until they stop making junk. Which will probably never happen.

could be the tps (if it's a ford).do what i did, tell them it died going thru a curve in the road,in turn losing your power steering...and if it had been my wife driving, she might have run off the road.they had my shite ready the next day at no charge, hasn't done it since.the story is true, but i find it amusing that when they think they might get sued or something, they got it together and fixed it right after being at the dealership twice before for the same issue.

El oh el. My girlfriends 2010 civic is the biggest pos I've ever had to deal with. If it's not one thing wrong with it it's another. 45k miles and we're trying to trade it in asap.
Her roommates camry has the Toyota issue where the oil passages get clogged and the car starves for oil. It's sorta common for the early 2010s Toyota 4 cylinders. frick both those cars.

The dealer should guarantee their work from this summer. Stay on them and get them to figure out what is really going on.

only buy a honda or toyota

I used to do brakes, but now no garage
I'll take it in...never had no computer problems as yours

take it back, unless you know a really good mechanic on the side who is excellent at troubleshooting electrical

good luck

I didn't include in my original reply, but I did have a very similar problem a few years ago on a jeep. It was as simple as the throttle body being gummed up. A good cleaning in the driveway and all was well.

It's an electrical short.in your harness probably, but not 100%. Is the car restarting and then running bad?

I had a nissan that did that one time, ended up being a crack in the air intake duct,on the engine side of the air filter. It was causing a loss of vacuum, and that screwed up all the control sensors.

fixed it with duct tape.
