re: Ceramic floor tile cracking

Tiles are cracked because of one of two probable reasons. Either there’s a crack in your slab underneath the tile or they didn’t lay the tile in a full bed of grout and there’s hollow pockets.
If it’s a crack in the slab, the only way you’ll fix it is to put an expansion membrane over it and relay the tile. Similar to a piece of visqueen. And understand, all concrete cracks so as long as you don’t have differential settlement there’s nothing wrong with cracks in a slab.
You’ll know if there was a full bed of grout if it sounds hollow when you tap on the tile. I once built a JC Penney’s where the owners rep took a wooden handled shovel and walked around every piece of tile in the store and tapped it with the shovel. If it came back hollow he’d break the tile.
Could be a combination of both issues, but there’s not really any good way to patch this long term without mitigation the underlying issue causing the crack.

how many tiles are we talking? Is it a continuous crack going through several tiles?

You need to replace the tiles. When (if) you try to sell that home and an inspector sees those cracks or repaired cracks, he's going to write you up for foundation issues and the buyer's bank will want that shite fixed, repair price subtracted from the sale price, or pull financing altogether.

Do what I do and just put a bathroom rug or mat over it and pretend it doesn’t exist

Floor tile is not laid in grout. It is Laid in mortar. Thin-Set it's a 'type' of mortar.
Grout goes between the tiles...
Sigh.

The cracked tiles are the result of a structural issue with the house. You need to sort out this issue first before fixing the cosmetic tile problem.

The installer didn't backbutter them I bet.

All slab homes in south LA settle, most of it in the first 36 months(unless there is a drought).
Cracks in the slab telegraph through ceramic tile. If one pulled up ones carpet, you would also find cracks.
Minor cracking is NOT a structural defect. Completely different set of criteria.
As a builder we always left a box or two of extra tile in the attic. Easy-Peary fix.
We eventually began using a synthetic thin set with greater elasticity than mortar thin set. This significantly reduced the problem.

Approximately 8 tile and yes a continuous crack.

Had this happen to me once, so I just sold the house and bought a new one.

Should have installed an uncoupling membrane.
And the tile setter probably did not back butter the tiles, so the thinset did not fully adhere to the tile.
Sorry. No easy fix. Best to remove and replace it using the proper materials.

You need a new slab. It moves too much.
Good luck!
