there's a lot of coping and rationalization of putting yourself before your kids in this thread. Sad!

It's sad baby boomers and gen xers are so selfish. Total "me" generations. Millenials are all about sacrifice and helping people, which explains why we overwhelmingly voted for Trump

Be mad at the law. If the law did not make it so convieient for the parent making less money divorce would not be so common. They have the same style of life they had when they were married except get a new spouse. Child support should be calculated one time at the time of separation and it’s up to each parent to make a better life for themselves. Would solve a lot of problems IMO.

Also married couples texting all day long seems extremely unhealthy.
My wife was off work as a nurse for about 7 years. We talked all day, I am in sales and am just phone call away while on the road and work in my home office the rest of the time.

She is back at work for about 30 hours a week now, and has no time to call. We have had more conversations in the evening in the last few months than the prior 7 years combined. TV not on, just catching up.

My parents divorced after 30 years. Looking back, it probably should have happened sooner. Like at year 15.

At least I would have had an excuse to abuse drugs, impregnate trailer trash chicks, and job hop every 6 months.

bullshite study... statistics... like a bikini, they show a lot but hide important areas!

I divorced 5 years ago. Daughter is attend graduate school and my son began college as a sophomore, due to college credits he gained in high school. Great kids, never in trouble. Doing great. To you that bash divorce, "don't judge another until you've walked a mile in his shoes"

there was a group of women getting on my flight earlier this week and one has a shirt that says “just divorced” and the others have shirts that say “divorce support group” and they were all plastered.

getting divorced is now celebrated like a party similar to when one gets engaged.

stay safe

Wow. It's like I have seen before with a few of my chick friends from college. Mid-30s or so, they are done with the marriage thing (got their kid out of it) and want to live Sex and the City lifestyle while they have some sexual value.

CNN is now telling us there is no better time to be single.

To summarize this thread:

OP: study shows divorce is bad for kids

Divorced posters: that's not always true, {personal anectdote that doesn't refute the study's findings}

Red pill guys: some stuff about women getting men's money, but not as entertaining as goldennugget would have posted

A lot of kids with speech issues can often overcome it while in day care or in a group speech therapy setting with kids their age

You are way behind the times

A lot of people are going to hate on this because they, like my ex, are selfish fricks. But this is the reality of divorce.

Im married and none of this happens.

It did take me a while before I was truly ready to marry because I didn't want my marriage to end up like my parent, or both sets of grandparents. All divorces. My parents divorce effected me as my parents were too busy dealing with their split than care what was happening to me or my younger brothers. My youngest brother was fk'd up for a good 10 yrs. He finally has his life back on track but he has had an extremely rough time.
