But that’s not what OP is specifying. Christian Nationalism is a particular political ideology rather than a mere religious belief system. It’s about interjecting Christianity - usually through an isolated interpretation of the Bible - into our government such that it usurps the constitution.

Yes, I realize that.

But if "Christian Nationalism" was a powerful ideology, wouldn't the first move be to eradicate all non-Nationalists?

That clearly is not happening.

This is anachronistic. Pointless argument.

Jesus turns out to be a pretty good guide on this stuff, render unto Caesar, but also love thy neighbor as thyself.
Rarely are these issues black and white, but love and compassion should be our first instinct toward all others.

America was founded by, largely, Christians.

Who we’re fleeing religious persecution.

So they instilled the vitreous freedom of religion nomenclature into the First Amendment thereby allowing all religions as well as the right to assembly. And greatly influenced by free thinkers like Thomas Jefferson who penned his own bible instead of using the King James.

Per the Bill of Rights, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof... ".

Which was not any variant of Christian Nationalism. Which is in favor of undoing such freedom from any one religion, by trying to trust their own limited concepts as law, and is something which would raise the ire of many of the founding fathers,

But yet the founders could vision a second amendment where for half a days wages one can buy a gun that can wipe out a kindergarten class.

In not aware of any precedent for historical Christians intentionally separating Christianity from civil matters on an influence/cultural level. As a litmus test? Sure.

First, we need to define what “Christian Nationalism” actually means, because I’m not sure if there is a clear definition universally accepted by everyone.

America was built on Christian principles and a Christian worldview, period. Whether every founder personally believed is irrelevant; the framework they constructed was undeniably Christian. The states were Christian-controlled at the founding, which is why you don’t see Christianity explicitly mandated in the Constitution, it didn’t need to be. Everyone understood Christianity would be the dominant force. The founders were concerned with preventing denominational tyranny, not entertaining whether Islam or any other religion might shape the nation’s character. Let’s be honest: that was never on the table.

Do I want a theocracy? No. Do I want state-enforced adherence to a specific denomination? No. But should we unapologetically defend and uphold Western ideals that are fundamentally tied to Christian thought? Absolutely. Those who deny this connection are either ignorant of history or deliberately obscuring it. Western civilization’s moral architecture rests on a Christian foundation, and pretending otherwise is intellectual cowardice.

Agreed.

If anything, Christian Nationalism is the opposite of anything they had in mind, to put it simply.

I think the recent DHS tweets and such (explicit Gospel themes) show the issue well.

- Is this violation of establishment in the founding sense? In my view, no.

- Should the Christian welcome this? Sure, but should we be also wary of whether it is sincere, how it might be used to serve secular ends, etc? Also yes.

Well considering they were at the time using private weapons to fight one of the greatest armies in the world in an open rebellion, yes they could and did.

I don’t know anything about the backstory - there were a number of agencies that had overtly Christian Christmas messages

That’s a really big question.

Why don’t we start with something more simple….like agreeing that men and women are different and people need to pay for their own shite and follow the law.

How about we don’t spend ourselves into bankruptcy or funnel taxpayer dollars to groups set on trying to collapse the country?

Let’s start there before we worry about Christian Nationalists taking over.
