why is the headline written like that if it's been denied already?

Washington Post says it's true.
Independent says they were told it was false.

Not sure the WP is pushing a factual story but regardless:
quote:

nooses, or the Confederate flag to be hate symbols,
These aren’t universally hate symbols regardless of how some always think they are. Context matters. It is also just incredibly ignorant how some get offended by a rope.

Swastikas were never owned by the Nazis, so as far as hate it would depend on what swastika is being shown and the intended meaning. In Japan a swastika is used for the manji symbol to mark Buddhist sacred sites and temples, or it used to be before the 2020 Olympics when people started pushing Japan to change the symbol on street signs. I am not sure how that ended up.

quote:

"It's said some would mistake the manji for the Nazi symbol, but Buddhism has a much longer history with this symbol.
quote:

the swastika remains a symbol of good luck and prosperity in Hindu, Buddhist and Jain countries such as Nepal, India, Thailand, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, China and Japan, and carries various other meanings for peoples around the world, such as the Akan, Hopi, Navajo, and Tlingit peoples. It is also commonly used in Hindu marriage ceremonies and Dipavali celebrations.

Context matters for them but also the actual design matters.

People should be rational enough and educated enough to allow for other uses beyond Nazis, the KKK, and slave owners for all of these.

You sure? Looks to me like the Nazis and Catholics were cordial with each other.

I'm not sure about the comparison to the number of blacks killed, but I'm sure they killed many thousands of Catholic clergy, and of course millions of Christians in general. Nazis were absolutely not a fan of Christianity, and it would be foolish to argue otherwise.

I can't imagine they liked blacks very much either, but I also doubt they were a significant target or even much of a priority to Nazi Germany. Probably for very racist reasons, but that's par for the course in this case.

You're openly celebrating swastika.

Sorry, that makes you a POS in my book.

I'm tired of the noose bullshite. Nooses have been used for a thousand years across the world to hang people. How did the American Blacks manage to turn this into their own personal insult? How did they get to own this? Vigilante justice was a real thing in the old days, and it wasn't just going after black people. A posse going after someone they think escaped justice was a thing for everyone, not just the black people.

Been screaming this forever

More white people have died by orders of magnitude than blacks by the noose. Even in the heyday of the south
