The things you're describing don't sound dissimilar to the fundraisers we did as kids

Except they are. I went door to door myself selling (candy, candles, lightbulbs, raffle tickets, etc.) in the neighborhood to get booster money for school and playground teams. My parents did NOT do the work for me by hawking shite at their workplace.

Doesn't work with this new age of coworker beggar. They'll either say Hey Friday is payday so just pay me then for Jaxton's raffles or venmo/cash app me. Absolutely no boundaries or shame for that matter

It’s hilarious you say that. When I said “don’t have cash, sorry” she said: “nobody does, that why I waited until after Christmas to ask everybody!”

Took more than a few girls joyriding after donating to the cheerleader bikini car washes. I'd suppose that is outlawed these days, but they could rake in some serious $$.

If it’s a not a product or your kid isn’t offering a service, it’s a no for me.

That’s not “begging for money”. There is value to it. Someone had to go and sell the person that raffling off the good to give it to them too.

Cookies, popcorn, discount cards, wrapping paper, magazines, stadium billboards, advertisements etc. been going on in offices since 1980. At least it’s not just some QR code to give Cash App money.

I do appreciate it more when the kids are involved like a car wash, or standing outside the super market or something trying to do it

I put out a beg-campaign every year so I can ignore the fine folks that ignore my kid’s pop warner popcorn campaigns.

It’s the best way to save money.

90% of these raffles don't have a documented winner. Or if they do it's an inside job. At the workplace it's the same usual suspects/coworkers that are constantly hitting you up in some fashion practically every other month. I'm not talking the occasional World's Finest Chocolates or an actual product, it's some obscure raffle drawing. They wait to Friday pay day and they're like vultures.

You're cornered in your office, with the mega-cooze blocking the door pulling every emotional card in the book, and he feels irritated by being put upon like that. Cooze in question has realized that leaving a form in the break room doesn't get results, so she has to be extra pushy to get her $$.

Sorry, I already donated to the cause of broke dicks, it's called taxes.

This is probably akin to the escalation of college costs. The more money the feds make available, the more prices rise. The more money the team realizes they can soak out of guilt ridden bastards that just want to "help the kids," the farther away the tournaments get.

Just don’t give anything to the things you don’t want to. I give and sometimes I don’t. I don’t complain about it or say a word. Nobody discusses it with me because they have no idea why I give to some things and not others.

I will buy cookies or brownies, or a raffle ticket if the prize is appealing.
I'm not handing out cash for no consideration.

No different than Go Fund Me - I see all kinds of stuff on there - we paid for it ourselves or didn’t participate/go. People beg for money for everything now.

I’ll buy anything from the kids. Not a dime to parents/grandparents & all of my co-workers know this. It is a great learning opportunity for the kids.

I enjoy $5-$10 donations for rec league sports, not $20 squares on a football board for a travel baseball team going to New York in June.

A little raffle yea. But man local football team was raising money by selling mattresses. I’d like to know how the economics work on that.

cant stand when people beg for money for their kids youth sports when they could have just played in a league for $100 instead of signing up for something that costs $1,800+ a season

The sports panhandling is out of hand. Tell them you will donate exactly as much to their sports ball program as they donate to your math tutor for your child. End of discussion. ###

My granddaughter is on the debate team and travels monthly by plane or ferry. When her and her friends need to raise money, they contact the grocery market and sell baked goods.

Last time, she made Chocolate filled beignets herself, set up a two hour block of time with the market and raised over $400.
