Stock up on frozen tails while you can at $10-$12 a package.
Not gonna find any at that price except maybe some 12 ounce packs of frozen Chinese tailmeat. No way in hell I'd buy any of that to serve guests or my family.

Now do the price per person on 8.99 a lb live

Yeah a sack of boiled crawfish would run you close to $450. A sack of live crawfish at $9lb would run you $290.

Nahhhh. That's nonsense. All the complainers in these threads usually say that they can just go catch them for free in their sewage ditch.

Pick up in NOLA area.
1.10 lb Live Maine Lobster – Hard Shell $15.17 each
So let's say they average $15.00 a pound.
You are telling me a fisherman in Maine goes out in the ocean and runs his lobster traps. Comes back, sells to a wholesaler, who packs them up on ice and ships them first delivery overnight on a plane to New Orleans Airport. Another wholesaler picks them up and bring them back to his storage facility where he keeps them alive in aerated tanks to sell. Top this off with loss (no one buys dead lobster) and he is @ the same price per pound as crawfish?
I call bullshite.

Word out there is market dropped to $6 today.

Good news for the consumer price has dropped for the farmer. $6lb that should cause restaurants to follow and drop their prices too

Haha yeah I just got the word. Catch has actually started picking up this weekend. I figured that would cause a drop in the price because I’m sure everyone that’s fishing is starting to see an increase.

Yeah in a perfect world they would, but we all know that retail and boiled prices don't always follow field price drops.
But the ones who always eat the drops get majority of the hate because people think they control the price.

Good to hear the catch is increasing a bit.

That’s why I’m going to continue to update this post, even if it’s weekly and explain to everyone what’s going on on the producers side. Slowly we will get everyone educated on the crawfish industry.

Can't imagine spending that kind of money for boiled fricking crawfish.
i stood my ground at $1.99 a pound boiled
once you get it into your brain that you miss nothing by not eating crawfish, you find out fast you dont really miss not having it.
if you need the crab boil flavor, just boil crabs or shrimp instead
