We also have shite drivers here. We got the wrong order about 40% of the time when we used those services
That's typically on the restaurant where the driver got the food from. Some of them put stickers over the bags, boxes, ect to where the driver can't look to see what's in there (rightfully so).

I did it during the heart of Covid and the orders were frequent and often. I did it a little at the end of last year and it has slowed considerably because of course all the restaurants are back open

For sure, it's rough out there now. Sometimes I open the app and then close it in 20 minutes because I've done nothing but decline.

I went back to school Fall of 2019, left my full-time warehouse position to focus on school and ended up doing DD.

My most lucrative day was close to $300 going all day, but that was spring/summer 2020. It was nice to hit my goal and have all afternoon to just study/exercise/chill, but those orders waned as everything opened back up.

She was definitely dropping hints that she was willing to put in work for a few extra bucks.

You could have given her the tip.

Nothing against you OP. I just think too many people choose convenience over experience these days.

Yep.
Pick up your own food save the social awkwardness.

I've had several run ins with drivers on my work property and don't want anyone with that temperament handling anything I might eat.

If you just wear normal clothes, smile, and keep good hygiene, you beat 98% of the drivers out there. In a way I feel bad for some of them because it's clearly the only gig they can get for some mental reason.

They see "be your own boss" and that's just a lie. The people ordering the food and the restaurants are your boss.

We all got bosses, Irish.

That's ridiculous to say to someone. She should get another job then.

I've seen some absolute sleaze bag drivers that looked homeless or just out of prison and I just shook my head. Probably both

I was in Nola the other day. I wasn’t going to be able to leave anytime soon to grab some lunch so I ordered takeout. Was told order was completed, and was awaiting pickup from Uber eats driver. I was literally watching the app for the update when the person picked up my order. Showed the vehicle moving and gave me an eta. Two seconds later I get an alert that the driver had to cancel for personal reasons. Them bitches still charged my card.

I might can understand some of the surliness. Most of the people who seem to utilize the service locally are lazy idiots as I've heard complaints from some of the drivers and its a two way street.

Just curious, how much do you normally make per hour doing that?

And what does the average person tip?

I just don’t trust strangers with my dinner. I travel a lot on business also. But I always plan my trip by booking a room at a Hilton family of hotels, usually a Homewood Suites, that is located close by good places to eat.

Depends on the day of the week, holidays, times.

I've made $0 an hour and I've made $40 an hour at times. Average I would say for my area was $12-16.

Which is shite but good for beer and gas money on the side

Just don’t trust people in general. Hell as a rule I don't like most people, no way I'd trust them.

Most people who have the money for it are not getting DoorDash. I'll deliver to nice houses every now and then, but I deliver to shitty apartment complexes more than anywhere else.

I use food delivery services pretty frequently while traveling for work also...and sometimes when I'm home and just too lazy to cook or go back out. I've had a couple of female drivers message me about sending them money for "content" lol. The worst experience though, was with a male driver that looked fresh out of the clink. Late, food cold, and special added bonus he used my condiments bag (unsealed bc of individual sealed packets) to dispose of his Taco Bell food wrappers.

My entire living room also smelled of stale cig smoke from my bag being in his ride for a whole 7 mins.

No refund, no nothing from DD.
