They did the same thing here in Nueces County last week. They added 1100 cases in one day. The smaller print in the article said 900 or so were from a monthlong period between June and July. Then the next day they came out and said it was because that 900 was reported directly to the state, not to the county. THEN they said of those 900, 250 or so were accidentally counted twice. Then they adjusted that number and said it was close to 500.
It’s a clusterfrick everywhere.

Bc labs are late to report them and the county probably doesn’t have a time machine to go back in time to report the results on the days they were actually taken.
It’s an imperfect system, and I’d prefer them keep a separate tally that showed the numbers on the dates the tests were taken. Of course this is also flawed but the information doesn’t flow in at real time. There is no perfect solution bc not all tests give results at the same speed and not all places report results at the same speed either. Therefore there will always be lagging numbers.
But at least they are releasing the information and noting where it came from. It isn’t like they are just saying 5361 positive tests were taken yesterday.
In no way should those numbers be added to the current rolling 7 day average though

The positivity rate is still very high.
Is it? Aren’t they testing professional athletes daily? If you test the same person daily for 30 days straight and all are negative, do they count 30 negative tests or just 1 bc it’s the same person?

close to 5,200 of which came from a backlog of reports from the state health department Saturday
Bet that conveniently gets omitted from the reporting

As a resident of Dallas County its scary how scared people are. Walking their dogs down the sidewalk with a mask and gloves on. People eat this fear porn up.

Every weekend there seems to be a new culprit pulling this shite.

Yup. I’m in doctor’s offices every day for work. Even some docs are losing their minds and throwing out reps because, and I’ll quote one doc, “you should be ashamed of yourselves for working in this. If I catch it from you, I’m suing your arse and your company.”

Last week, Collin County reported 4 deaths.
Of the 4, the 60 year old guy was the baby of the group and the others were in their 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. All were listed as having underlying conditions.
I’m seeing more people driving around alone in their cars with masks on. Assholes.

Don't care. Didn't care much in the first place, truth be known.

I am in a walkable part of Dallas and see people walk by my house all the time and not once have I seen anyone wearing a mask outside. I occasionally see someone at white rock lake wearing one but most people are not.

Why don’t they add the positives to the prior weeks and months when the positives happen? Why are they adding them to today’s number?

SILENCE!
Gotta keep pumping the numbers until the election in November!

Sounds like he's got a rock solid case and shouldn't have any trouble proving exactly who infected him, unless he's got one of those jobs where he comes into close contact with sick people all day.

Officially over it. They’re counting back log cases all the way back to March and April.
That would be the right way to do it. As long as your decision making reflects putting them where they should be.
Should they just pretend they never happened?
