Word of caution to any of you folks planning to burn wood in a fireplace that you don't often use. Know for certain your chimney is in good order. A chimney fire can and will burn your house down. In my area a historic 1860s era home burned to the ground a few weeks ago due to a chimney fire. It is nothing to gamble with.

I'm done with wrapping faucets. I'm giving the Freeze Miser a go this year. They can be found on Amazon for anyone interested.

Interesting. Let us know how it works. Ordering now would do me no good for this cold, Amazon will take at least 10 days to deliver it.

I'm not sure what to make of that one, Otis.

You made the chick's nipples hard.

Just looked up the freeze miser, I think if I lived in the north might be worth it but the good wraps are only 4-5 dollars a piece

There are lots of things that can be used to insulate your stuff. People are looking for the easy DIY stuff.

Give me a 75 degree and sunny Christmas any day of the week over frozen pipes, shite tearing up from cold weather,
You realize there's a decent range of much more comfortable temperatures between those 2, right?
It doesn't have to be freezing to be cold. I like it cold, but not freezing. Screw 75 in December.

Gotta love those wind chills early Christmas Eve.

Buy a cheap pack of diapers and wrap your pipes. I've been doing this for years and have zero issues.

Koozies work great. Put two of them over you faucets, then put a ziploc bag over them. Tighten them down with a zip tie.

Yeah I guess this would work but I need the koozie to keep my beer from freezing.

This is liquor weather, not beer weather.

Left Home Depot on highland. Still had plenty of hose bib insulation kits and foam/rubber pipe insulation left
If you can’t find it there then go to a Ferguson/coburns/southern pipe/Johnstown supply/acme refrigeration ir try a local hardware.
If all else fails. Old rags/old jeans. Wrap pipes and cover with duct tape to “waterproof” the fabric.
Also place objects in front of the exposed pipes to block the wind. Wind will keep constant cold air on surface and prevent stratification and will freeze faster.
Same principle of covering plants

Just researched it, seems like a great tool but I be nervous to use it. Seems too good to be true.

It's obvious it's going to freeze, but what is the update on snow? Is it still likely?

I cleaned out the home depot in kenner. Some guy asked me if I needed them all. Yes I do. My father has a raised house with old insulation. I redid the whole house today. He should have gotten there sooner.
