Hi neighbor

We are waiting to see how driving conditions are to see if we will drive to LA on Friday.

Why is it so unlikely that this kind of rain system would meet cold air?

One is going to happen, just not in the right location for the deep south.

Basically all the lift is coming for the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. The only lift you get is with the frontal passage, which could squeeze out a few flakes.

Duke, were we supposed to get this
Much rain? My area is pretty well flooded at this point. Is tomorrow supposed to be another all day rain event?

I think it's just supposed to rain tomorrow morning and be done before lunch.

Cold from what I've read but fairly dry. Lows down in the teens, highs in the 20s to lower 40s. I think it's supposed to be windy too.

Im not super tied into the weather details down there right now, until the cold front slams down. Got demoralizing cold to deal with myself.

Knew it was going to be rainy to start the week, but that sounds a little extra.

No precip but frickin' cold. Wind will be blowing pretty hard and you'll be dipping into the teens. Sunshine wont bring much relief due to the wind.

I know how to deal with it and this area has the infrastructure but on a streak of 4 consecutive subzero mornings. It isnt a whole lot of fun.

Wednesday Night through Thursday Night, got a wind chill watch up for. Expectation is wind chills down to -40 to -45 for my area.

What you got to realize is this is my equivalent to what yall are gonna catch this weekend.

Correct . The rain will end by lunch. But Friday Saturday and Sunday will be in the low 20’s everyday.

Whereabouts are you?

They’re saying Friday here will be -20 to -25 wind chills (30 to 40 mph winds). Through Christmas Day. It’s been a little bit since we’ve had that. Maybe 2015-ish.

those are fun nights. I remember having to decide which porch I smoked on depending on if the wind was coming from due north or northwest/northeast

couldnt stand outside for more than a couple minutes without being decked out in winter gear

I had a safety survival suit for walking the dogs. we had a north/south oriented street. so when it got real cold and the winds picked up out of the north. had to put that on and snow goggles to walk the dogs

dont miss those days

I thank the heavens often for my E/W oriented street.

And Im going to see if my gear is sufficient soon enough. Nothing like a good stress test to find the flaws in my defenses.
