I wish they would talk mostly in terms of temperature not wind chill because the latter is more important regarding freezing pipes and such but I guess the lower wind chill number sounds more shocking.

I mostly agree. Wind chill matters, though, especially in parts of the country that rarely deal with this kind of Winter weather. You throw wind into the mix with dangerously cold temps in an area where people aren't used to it, and you have problems. Many people have to be lead.

I'm waiting to the last minute to cover up some outdoor faucets, since I don't want the dogs to tear up the Styrofoam covers, but that would suck if we all came down with the flu and still hadn't made those preparations yet.

The flu would stop you from covering a few faucets?

As do I.

But most southerners consider this commie or homo weather.

2018 probably. I didn’t cower in a corner for days. I could still walk around and do tiny tasks if it was needed

Putting water in bowls for dogs, cleaning out cages for our foster puppies.

And I've never heard of watering camellias for cold weather

The Arctic blast has ARRIIIIIIIIVEEEEED!

It's just windy and cold. 26 degrees and falling. I think I'll go for a drive and hope I don't get called out.

2 hours ago it was 35 before the sun came up. Now it is 25 and ice falling from the sky has begun.

A Wind Chill Advisory also goes into effect at midnight tonight and has been extended through Saturday morning.

Wind chill values (what it feels like when you combine temp+wind) in the single digits appear likely by Friday AM. #LAwx

Builder talked me into upgrading to a manifold system. Never have to wrap exterior faucets, turn off the circuit and drain it. Will never own a house that doesn’t have this system.
