One of my law partners had Alzheimer's in his early 50s - he died of it within about two years of his diagnosis.

My buddy's mother got it when he was in junior high. They had to move her into assisted living it was so bad, and she stayed there until she passed away a couple of years ago.

Although he was not young when it happened. One of the most heartbreaking things my wife ever experienced was her father asking her, "who are you?"
She was his caretaker the last 2 years of his life. Luckily for him, he was taken out by a failed surgery before he got much worse.

I still haven't had a "good" day since the stroke but the days are getting better
since I didn't die I have to focus on getting better so eventually, I can have a really good day
I have recovered from the stroke( for the most part) but I haven't recovered from the time lost not getting therapy due to covidmania
This sounds a lot like my stepdad's experience with a stroke recently. I've got to think he would have received much better care 3 years ago.
My then 18 month old little boy had a stroke in August 2020, he's fully recovered now like it never happened.
Between my boy and my stepdad, I've learned and seen more than I ever thought I would about strokes. Good luck with the recovery both physically and mentally

I understand where you are coming from . My dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at 53 . 3 years later he was bedridden . 7 years later he passed . After visiting him while bedridden I was depressed for a week . Had to slow down visits . Way to many tears . He was the 58 teams Captain and they only had one bar on helmet . In high school no bar . Blame some of it on too many blows to the forehead .
