The OP’s location says Florida (which may not be correct) - here are the regulations for hygienists in FL

a dentist cleaning teeth is like a physician doing an IV over a nurse.
I can start IVs, doesn't mean I should do it compared to the nurses who do them every day.
To be fair, apparently in Japan only an MD or can give a Covid vaccine….

Yes I’m in Florida. My kids had their teeth cleaned by a hygienist. But the exam is by a dentist and if there’s a problem he determines the required procedure to fix it. He wasn’t there. So now we have to come back.
It’s not a problem to have the teeth cleaned. That was done. A cleaning is almost pointless. What you are paying for is a professional to look in your mouth and prevent issues from getting worse. That’s what we didn’t have today.

No - that’s you - showing your ineptitude, ignorance, and illiteracy
Kids have been fed - they don’t go to bed til 9 - they’re watching Disney+

I sent the regulations because he can give you some cockamamie story how he was following the law (I cannot interpret it, I’m not a lawyer, but they are there)
I’m more concerned that they just found the hole in the tooth - that doesn’t happen overnight. But I’m not a dentist either.

most offices the dentist has 3 or 4 + hygienists that clean the teeth and all they do is a 2 minute exam.
I’ve been to a lot dentist over the years and that is how every dentist I’ve ever been to does it.

I’d love to know, but the dentist wasn’t there…

Also...it is common courtesy to alert the patients the day before that the dentist will not be in...that way no one is surprised.
I believe that it is required to notify the patients that the dentist will not be in the office on the day of their cleaning.

Has the mood been bad? I’ve been streaky with my TD lately. Too much Covid arguments and I’m dealing with work stuff. EVery thread seems to be about people bitching.

I’m pretty sure the one I’m going to now is a shady too. They sure know how to maximize my benefits quickly. I’ve had a deep cleaning and a crown this year. They want more. No, I’m out of money.
