I don’t donate to the school for some academic slush fund. It goes to specific program.

My masters program is a small niche program with limited funding.

They accepted me into grad school when I thought I had no chance, gave me a merit scholarship that really helped me get a new computer when I had no money and my affiliation continues to pay dividends early in my career.

Sure. A little guilt that I invest about 10x more to athletics than my college.

Yep. Won’t donate. I had an “ indecent” my freshman year (I did something they didn’t like) which cops (or campus police) were not involved. Ive been told of what I have done but still don’t believe it. Still, as an American, it was within my rights.
I had to write a long arse paper to the dean and letters to my professors.

Why would you? You paid tuition right? Unless they offer a special rate for your kids, which they don’t anymore, why give them money?

Thank you for your service sir. If more people turn off the spigot maybe that’s will steer the ship back in the right direction. I love supporting LSU sports but I’ll be damn if I will now as long as the my support BLM.

As much as I paid in parking tickets while I was there, I figure we're good. They got enough of my money already.

Colleges charge outrageous amounts of money, why should I donate more?

No. I refuse to pay for bullshite administrative bloat, which occurs in every department at every level at LSU. So they get $0 from me.

US News rankings factor in alumni donation % (regardless of amount) for their rankings. Extremely important.

Only if you think some magazine’s ranking of colleges is important or noteworthy

USC's admin is a bunch of corrupt grifters who covered up massive sexual abuse. Not giving them a dime.

Yes, LSU is a very poor school compared to most other state flagships. There are many reasons for this, but I feel it’s important to do my part to help support the place I not only went to undergrad and grad school but also the place I learned to drive, learned to swim, and went to summer camp.

I understand having issues with how things are run in higher ed, but you can target your gift to the library or to a certain college at the university.

LOL. You could have maybe made this argument in 2008 but LSUs budget has been cut to the bone over the last decade plus. Also our endowment is embarrassingly low for a school our size.

I do. Usually the scholarship fund.

I am on the board for my local Alumni club and donate to it and do fundraising with them. Hard to explain that when the university calls me asking for money but I tell them that all my donations go through my local endowment.

Won't donate another dollar to LSU until they remove support for BLM organization.

None of that addresses the armies of unneeded staffers and departments that exist at LSU. Budget cuts, or no budget cuts.

Get rid of the bullshite, then come back and ask me for money.
