Are you referring to Ryan Holiday author/podcast/New York Times Bestseller?

I listened to his podcast until he had Stacey Abrams as a guest. He and his supporters couldn't/wouldn't understand why many people stopped listening to the podcast.

Lol they probably said that 2000 years ago. To me, it’s about accepting things as they are instead of how you think they should be, and going from there. Being in control of yourself and your reactions. I see it as a philosophy, so it doesn’t go against whatever religious beliefs that someone may or may not have. It doesn’t answer all the questions of life but it has good advice.

Holiday is just not authentic. He spoke at large conference in December..
The live person Holiday uses a lot of other people’s quotes and makes clever one liners. He created a following through social media and writing books. He just speaks and authous on subjects that he can’t even walk out.
His Trump melt was Britney Spears level embarrassing.

All humans could benefit from stoic practices.
Cell phone use moderation for instance could be considered a stoic practice. Being appreciative for what you have is a stoic practice.

You're asking people on the TD if they are stoic? Keep researching stoics

I’m here to jack off and take care of my family. Is that stoic enough for you?

That definition sounds like AA.

But to the OP’s point: I’d say that I pretty much keep quiet on my doings, don’t advertise myself on social media, don’t look for praise for what I do, and do everything I do “because it needs to be done” and I don’t really want recognition for it.

Well I’m a married man with kids. Being “stoic” comes with the territory. It’s what we do as men. Work our asses off and then we die. Maybe play a little golf and drink some beer along the way

Actively trying to be stoic just makes you come across as an autistic a-hole. It’s immediately obvious when people are into that gay bullshite. You’re either naturally on the stoic side or you’re not, and the people who aren’t don’t benefit from acting like they are

Absolutely. I try to incorporate stoic and some Buddhist principles in how I engage with the world.

Removing desire and having a healthy, moderate management of emotions is something people really need to think about

Well… there was a debate at the time in how to live your best life. Epicureanism was one of the big philosophies at the time. Which despite its reputation also promoted generally modest living. He said we’re all going to die and that’s ok. Dont live in fear of death….. which over time, people took as him saying gluttony was ok lol

Yep.

If you spend any amount of time posting here, you are not practicing stoicism.
