Yes. I have OCD, ADHD and Bipolar. I woke up in panic attacks March of 2019. I had no idea what was going on. My OCD theme had to do with religion. People have no idea what I have been through!!!

No, I guess maybe it works for some people, but I would prefer just to get some peace and fricking quiet for a few minutes to maintain my sanity.

I get enough yapping from everyone around me all day, last thing I need is another person flapping their damn gums at me for an hour.

Dropped the Mrs off at one for her appointment and I had to convince her that the guy who made the sign must've goofed.

I mean there was no way this was Psycho The Rapist's office, right?

BOY, was I wrong. She got all pissed off at me for that one.

Yep. I've been to 3 different ones for about 10 sessions each over the past 10 years. I have moderate/sometimes bad anxiety issues. I've finally figured out that I have to address the issues that I am creating. Still a work in progress, but therapy has helped.

Yes, and having a great therapist is good to have for routine maintenance.

If so do you go in person or virtual, and do you feel like it helps you?

I prefer in-person visits. There's something about "being there" while "being there." Virtual, for me, is harder to build a connection and trust. Reading people's body language plays a large part in how I communicate.

I'll say this. There are good therapists and there are bad therapists. Just like any other profession. Find one that you can build a relationship with. It may not be with the first or the third therapist, but eventually, you will get there.

For me, it wasn't until almost a year into weekly sessions with him that it started to "click." Mostly because of my own denials (which were fear based) and not being "aware" of my behaviors (selfish) and the impact they were having on others. I used to always see things through my own perspective (which is normal and natural), but he told me to "take a different seat at the table" and my perspective would change. He was right. I can't go back and undo the wrongs and hurt I have caused others, but I can do something about today and tomorrow, which helps me and brings me peace.

One of the best tips he ever provided to me about dealing with anxiety was this ... "shut the fcuk up." When my mouth starts moving and words (at that time) are said that have the potential to be hurtful, "shut the fcuk up." It doesn't mean avoiding the situation. It just means to calm down, let emotions lie, and come back to it later once my thoughts are clearer. This took me a while to truly understand this. Nothing in life is an emergency, unless it is a true emergency.

Trial and error. You won't know until you go. I recognize that one therapist I used to see --- who I dismissed internally in my own mind --- was good (not as good as the one I am seeing today), but I stopped wanting to see her because I was running away from my own fears and it caused me to be uncomfortable.

So, it wasn't necessarily her, it was me.

Just be aware of this when you do your own self-evaluation.

I don't need someone to figure out what my problems are. My mind does that for me when I try to sleep at night.

If your ex wife is hearing voices I don’t think that’s the fault of any of those people, and she should have been hospitalized right?
That’s like asking a shoe salesman for advice on a broken foot.
I hope she’s properly medicated now and doing better.

Went in person and it was nice to have someone who knows nothing about you or your situation just listen.
