Nope. Never have, never will. I only take one about once or twice a Year. Didn’t know I was “supposed to” until recently

You know the drivers rate you as a passenger, same way you can rate them, right? I have to think that if you stiff your driver it would negatively affect your rating, making future drivers leery of picking you up.
That’s not the way it works

Always do unless it's completely shitty service.

Yeah, gotta keep my pristine 5.0 rating.

So let’s say you go to a wine bar and order a $200 bottle of wine and a small plate.
You still tip 20% for someone to open a bottle of wine and bring you a $20 app?

Non issue. I would never do that.

Wine service is usually 5-10% cost of the bottle.

You've asked for exact change back when paying a taxi?

There are idiots on this site that tip 20% on alcohol.

Of course. Assuming they perform as they should, why wouldn't you?

Tip in cash if I can. I assume Uber is taking a cut.
Uber may. Lyft says that it doesn't.

It depends, tipping is for service beyond the contracted agreement.
If the driver pulls up I get in, the driver doesn't talk, and then drops me off, zero tip.
If the driver is nice, we have a nice short chat, the driver makes sure I get dropped off into the right place, the car is reasonably clean, doesn't pull 20 feet past me and expect me to walk to him etc... then I'm going to throw at least a dollar or two their way.
I probably tip 60% of the time, about 80% of that time it's a few bucks, but I've tipped $40 on a $40 ride when the driver did me a favor (had a lot of bags).
Less than 25% of Uber/Lyft passengers tip for a given ride.
I'd say about 40% of the rides I take are not worth tipping as the driver makes no minimal effort other than the pickup and drop off, which is the contracted service.
Me tipping is 100% my response to the quality of service, if the driver is good I tip, and I do enjoy getting picked up by good drivers, if crap drivers don't want to pick me up I'm all for them not picking me up.

The whole point of rideshare apps was cut this bs out. However, always have that guy thinking he's going to be special and help out more. F that.

I take Ubers every Friday and Saturday nights. Going out and coming home. When I’m shitfaced I’ll throw a few bucks on tips shite adds up. I have spent over 4K this year just on Ubers/Lyfts and it’s not even Christmas party time. Sure beats killing someone or jail time though
