do notice that I’ll get one leaving the kidney a day or two after I being at the camp during the summer sweating my nuts off and drinking too much. Dehydration is a bitch.
This is exactly when mine have started moving as well...get dehydrated while working outside and if you have one, it will start moving.

also, if it is already too big to pass, they can use sound waves to smash it into pea gravel.
Don't you mean "pee gravel"?

Went to the doctor today. Got the CT scan today.
Confirmed 2 stones in my left kidney, one is 5mm.
Oh and to make it even better, a cyst on my liver. Yay me.
Just take your meds and hope you pee it out.

Is the pain worse than an absesed tooth?
I would say that both are equally disabling...kidney stone was more widespread, though. Tooth was more intense, but more localized.

Then imagine sweats and vomiting that go with the pain. You cannot move. You cannot get comfortable. You cuss even if Jesus is with you. You cannot drive yourself to the hospital.
But then...hospital. unbearable until you get a bed...and Dilaudid and morphine get to you. And you feel like Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction.
Perfect description. I had one when I was 23 and it was the worst pain ever. Wouldn’t wish that shite on my worst enemy. Roommate took me to the doc and I crawled in. Took me back instantly. I threw up twice in the span of 15 minutes. Nurse was like holy shite, you can always tell when people are faking just to get pain meds and when people really have kidney stones. She helped me into a bed, put me an IV in and within seconds had dilaudid pumping into my veins. Best. Feeling. Ever. Better than sex.
Cut out sodas and drank a shite ton of water since and haven’t had one again now 4 years later.

Had one at 20 and just got one at 26 frick those things. The worst pain on earth, but dilaudid is tight.

They look very strange. Reminds me of a moon rock with spikes. Prayers sent.

You’ll squirm around on the floor in pain and nausea for 3 days then you’ll be pissed because you’ll see the damn thing only about the size of a dipping dot

I said no I dont. Im too young to have one. Turns out I have to get a CT scan. What the heck?
The only real relief I found at home when they start moving and causing all that pain is to run as hot a bath as I can stand and lie in it. The relief is almost immediate for me, but the big drawback is once out of the tub and your body cools down, it's back to the pain.
I did find a heating pad over the area where the pain is generating did help a bit. However, some damn stones are so big that nothing really helps except the real good drugs in the ER.
My urologist finally took some of the stones I collected over the years and had then analyzed by a lab and found out they were uric acid based, the same acid that can cause gout. He prescribed Allopurinol and that little pill has to be taken daily, but they do work since I've only had 2 episodes in the past 3 years with stones. Prior to that, I was getting them 4-5 times a year.

This thread is scary as frick.
Good thing I drink a ton of water daily to the point where I could fill up 10 swimming pools with all the water I've drank in the past year.

Doesn’t really matter what your water intake is some people are just more prone to them. I don’t drink soft drinks or coffee or anything like that, slug water through the day but my body still fricks me.
But I’m not saying water doesn’t help.

Mine was relatively painless actually. Hung up in my bladder, too large to escape. Instead of pain i was greeted each morning with a horrifying amount of coagulated blood exiting my d. One day the blood choked off my flow entirely. It was horrifying and extremely messy once flow was restored
but again painless.
Had to get it broken up to pass. That was less than awesome, more post procedure muscle spasms than pain from passing stone pieces.
