There's your answer......stress and grief. Seriously. Pups feel it and they don't know how to process it. Do the best you can with it, and realize that he's just feeling his way through this much like everyone involved.

Having him neutered would probably help, too. Talk to your vet about it.

I knew it. My male dog did the same. We had an elderly female and he started it when she started showing signs of having cancer/a tumor.

I’d take him to the vet. While not the only explanation, this changed behavior could indicate a health issue (found that out a couple years ago with my parent’s dog).

My dog recently just had accident right in front of me...never happened before.
Turns out he is diabetic at 7 years old.
