This is what they do is MS public schools and a lot of teachers do it.

Custodians, janitors, coaches, etc. Offer them more money and see if they bite. A lot of coaches already drive the team buses to games.

They knew about the sick out last night and didn’t tell parents that no bus was coming until this morning. Now they give less than 1 hour warning that school is letting out?
This is clown world right?

Private school buses? This doesn’t exist for my schools.

With limited resources they should prioritize public schools not privite and Catholic. Transportation director told me directly that parochial are the priority
Then he’s lying because public school routes are always completed before private schools on shared buses.

Bus drivers used to work as lunch servers/cooks to become full time employees of the schools in some districts. I think that’s a pretty good combo and allows people to get paid more.
That 6 hour gap really isn’t 6 hours of workable time as nobody is working at their last school they dropped off at if it’s a private sector job. So truthfully it’s more like 4 hours of workable time.
Most places aren’t hiring for working hours of 9-1 with 0 flexibility on it.

If they can’t pay their bills with a job, how will they pay them with no job?

Let’s think this out.
They can go to a private company and probably make a few more bucks.
To drive a bus you need a Class B with Passenger and school bus endorsement.
Most people who do it in small towns either own a business, have a job that has flexible hours, work nights, retired, or side gig.
I had one at one time as I was a diesel mechanic, owned a shop, and worked on clients buses. I also volunteered to drive for a local church.
Would I do it today?
Nope

Our bus driver came.
She’s getting a nice gift from all the parents.

Louisiana law says all BESE approved schools, public or private, get equal use of public schools buses. I live near a Catholic k-8. They use at least ten buses.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question b/c I’m not up to speed, but did they resolve this issue yet? Or are busses not running again on Monday?

This is the way. The bus drivers would make more money, and you would likely gather a better pool of employees due to the higher pay.
I've never understood having a teacher with a master's degree outside doing recess duty or monitoring the cafeteria. Their skills would be better used helping kids with academic endeavors.

Probably not this will probably go on for a few weeks.
Now if I could get a route where it was all private school kids and the only super hot moms would appreciate the bus driver, then I’m in driving a bus.
No way would I drive one in the hood or 90% of the parish.
